mate ,both are fine heads, used them many many years ago and have just purschased a 100 ribs for trad shooting..

and for around 2 bucks ur fine.

easy to sharpen,id recommend, nipping a 1/4 of the front of the tuskers and bevel the heads, jmho

when placing in the adaptors,id recommend 24hr araldite and spin them to esure they are straight.if u dont like the alloy adaptors like myself,u can get steel adaptors, gives a bit more weight and strength.

if u cant get them in australia first ,try www.3riversarchery.com

most blokes are happy with the alloy adaptors.

I hunted with Tusker ASzrecs last year and had excelent results. I shoot them with 100 gr steel adapters for a real heavy BH.
Great price and great heads.

i use to shoot tusker javlins and found they bend fairly easy,
but they are easy to get sharp,

at the moment i'm useing Blackstumps and i'm very happy with them

I know this has been asked before but Owen, what is the website for blackstumps, or the contact details?

I would like to have a look at them first.
I am told that htey are the only ones i should consider apart from Outbacks, which have taken all my game to date, so they will take some beating, not to mention that i have recently learned finally how to get them sharp enough to shave hairs off my legs with, which the single-bevels have made heaps easier.

My road-bike riding career begins soon, as soon as i sharpen a few more and complete the shaving process.

Yer i get people that know me ask if if have been hunting when I get back from trips and when I ask how they know they say they notice one bald arm :D
I am now shooting some Davies as i have wooden arrows and they sharpen up SCARY SSHARP real easy if you are after a trad type head.
Cheers KIM

I don't mind admitting that i have never actually managed to get my arrows shaving sharp before, and when everyone else says it is wrong, immoral etc. to hunt with arrows that aren't that sharp it has made me feel guilty.

If anyone else feels the same, don't worry too much.
It is possible. In the end, i was filing the blades wrong, and when i sorted that out i was close, but the real change came when i got a piece of leather, rubbed some autosol metal polish into it, and then stropped the sharpened arrows on it 10 times or so each side.

Bye bye leg hairs.

grab one of those bog files , u also see them advertised in archery action, bloke on the sunshine coast sells them,,easy as with any aussie broadhead,,,,i then go to a finer file and then a fine steel..

in bowhunting the basalt,u see bill baker showing them and the guy that sells them i believe..

i never hunt unless they are hair shaving sharp..thats just me :)

everyone has their special way,as long as u end up with the same result..sharp as...

I just bought an $11 mill file from our local hardware store. It was the kind Brad Smith is using at the start of "feral game".
Easy as pie. I had been filing 90 degrees across the edge. I started going ALONG the edge, and it makes a huge difference.
then the same direction on my new diamond steel, then the leather.

owen u r on the money...i thought it was,but was too lazy to get up and check me archery action mag :D

puk, brad also uses the bog file first then drops down to the mill file like ur using..those bogs file will just strip that bevel down real quick and easy with a few strokes either side, except for the case where u have the single bevel, which im yet to try,but i definatly will. then onto the mill etc etc :)

might do that to my next batch of stumps im getting ready..

ive heard woodys new stealths etc are nice as well,,bit more weight.

its all good

As you can see in my avatar, I use the 190 grain Ribtek's.

I doubt there is a better type of broadhead for wood shafts about... :D

I did a little test with 125gr Tusker Javelin, 130gr Ribbie and a 125gr Outback hunter. From 20m from a 64# compound into a 200x200x40mm concrete paver. interesting results will post pics later today.

i put a 125 woody hunter into a steel container once from 40metres out of my 70lb outback...the tip penertrated through the 3mm steel a couple mil and the head was fine..still there... :D

was using carbon rebel shafts, had a little crack where the nock sat..

with those javalins,id just nip a1/4 inch off the front and put a tanto tip on it,will help with the bending

Well here is whats left of the Broadheads

The Javelin hit high and left on the brick only penetrating about 5mm and exploded on impact and I mean EXPLODED as you can see by the pieces it's in now. To me the tip is to weak and folded.
The Ribbie hit about center of the paver just above the Hunter, the Ribbie just folded on it's self. Very disapointing.
The Hunter penetrated about 10mm and came out unscathed.
The arrow used was a Carbontec Whitetail Pro 6580 I used the one arrow for all three shots but alas it died on the last shot.

Damn feral pavers, they take a bit of stopping. You'll have PETA after you! Seriously, thanks for sacrificing the arra and b/heads in the pursuit of what will work (or not) in the field. And better send this link to Dr Ashby, too.

Ant, I did this test more for my own curiosity (kills the cat....not this time killed the heads and arrow instead, cat sneaks back over the fence)

I know know why I chose to stay with the Outbacks. :D

i hit a rock from 20yds with a solid blackstump once,
smashed the arrow, bent the addaptor but the head was still in good order, all i had to do was give it a quick hit on the bog file and it came up good as gold.

i used to use Tuskers but found that they bend to easy and in the longrun was costing me too much coin to keep replacing them, but they were easy to sharpen

Geeze, I think Woody must be adding some kryptonite to the steel of his broadheads.

It's things like this test, that can give you full confidence in your equipment. 8)

Well done Woody!

Thanks Hood for going to all this trouble. :D
