View Full Version : Bum bags with shoulder harness support or alternatives..
There used to be a topic in here discussing members preferred hunting packs. There were some good pictures showing some bum bags with shoulder strap supports. I can't find that thread.
What can you guys recommend as quality gear in this department?
Alternatively, can you recommend any smallish back packs with integrated camel back type water system?
Packs only need to be big enough to carry the necessities required for day hunting.
Thanks guys

Until just recently I have been using the Tsunami model from Hydrostorm for hunting full day sessions from out west chasing Goats to the Cape for pigs, it has been a good pack and the quality of the gear is terrific. Now I am using the Mule from Camelback and it is the same quality but a little bit better thought out. Thats what I have been using for a fair fewe years now, seems to work for me.
Cheers, Fenton.
Here's some to look at. Don't know how good they are, i haven't tried them, i just found the link.

I also use a small pack which has a 3L camelback inside and holds enough gear for the day, but have recently purchased a badlands monster fannypac with the hydration shoulder straps. I am still waiting for them to arrive but they should be here any day now :D

I like the look of the Ridgeline framed 25lt day pack. The thing I like most about it is, that it has a frame and this allows for only one layer of mesh to touch your back, which would allow good air circulation. In my mind the biggest bugbear with packs is the old sweaty back syndrome. This pack should minimise this annoying aspect common of most packs. It's covered with a thick polar fleece material that is supposedly waterproof.
If you're interested here's a link to where I've found the best prices on NZ made hunting gear.

This pack will probably be the next one I purchase. I've already got 3 day packs, but I only carry them when the weather is extremely cold, because I hate getting all sweaty. :?
I also own 2 bumbags. They're OK just so long as you don't want to carry too much. Often you're tempted to overload them and then spend all day hoisting them up after they've slipped over your bum. :x
If you happen to find the perfect solution to this age old problem, please don't keep it to yourself. :)

I have a redhead 9 pocket bum-bag that a mate picked up at a BassPro shop in the states. I carry a bit too much in it, but it isn't too bad. It has 4 points to attach shoulder straps/harness, but i can't find on to go on it.
When i can get straps for it, that will solve a few of my problems.

I have seen a few on eagle archery's, in Brisvegas, website & they seem very well priced, not sure of what the quality is like but it may be worth a call or check out their website.
