Driving with a friend last night we approached a round-about and i saw a ringtail possum dart out from the side of the road and under the car infront. I was relieved to see him come out unscathed but told my mate to stop the car so i could get the little bugger off the road. So he put his hazards on and i jumped out. The little possum then ran and hid under our car and while peak hour traffic built up behind i managed to grab him hiding up in the wheel arch. While crossing the road to release my little captive he jumped out of my hands and landed right on my face  , which no doubt entertained the waiting cars but has left me with a nicely scratched up face which leads me to my question. Does anyone know of any treatment for critter scratches to save them getting infected? They aren't sore this morning but i was wondering if any of you fellas have had infections from similar scratches?

I don't mean to laugh at your misfortune (especially as you were being a good samaritan) but... Muahahahahaha :D :D :D :D

I use Paraderm Plus for first aid to scratches, abrasions, etc. Just make sure the wound is clean, no grit or dirt in it. If anything looks or feels funny, or you have any doubts, go to a doctor. Animal wounds can fester quite nastily.

If it was out in a paddock somewhere I would say don't worry, possums aren't likely to be walking in **** much. But those urban possums that raid bins and whatnot are a worry. Go and visit the doc and get a course of antibiotics, it is cheap insurance.

LOL

I jumped in the car cursing " the little bastard jumped on me face!" Then my mate had a look at me
Trust me , none of you laughed as hard as my mate did !!!

All's well so far. A bit of savlon straight after seems to have done the trick, but if it does get infected i might just go lookin' for a possum skin hat !

Cheers, Cam .... oh and thanx for the sympathy

Why's this thread called Possum Punch, maybe better as Possum POUCH?Hehehehe, the old possum muff in the face trick, me thinks that's called beastiallity  I think ya suppose to skin 'em before ya wear em, & then mostly on ya head not ya dial. Cam, you'll be fine, a womans touch will fix it :)
