OK my days of shooting the old PSE are just about over and I am looking for recommendations of what to get next
I am only hunting with this bow, so I will see very limited range time.

The bows I have narrowed it down to are

Reflex Highlander

PSE triton

Martin Sabre

or one of the Diamond Bows (but havent read much on these) probably the diamond justice.

The PSE spirit I am shooting nowis about 20 years old so these will all be a lot different to what I am used to.

I guess I am looking for a heads up on any possible problems people have had with the bows and any prefernces people have to any bow

Thanks in advance

Josh

The Diamond is a very good bow. I also have seen the Martin Sabre in action (one of our club members) and they like theirs.

Basic Breakdown for you:

Reflex is Hoyt technology
Diamond is Bowtech technology
Martin is Martin
PSE is PSE

Are you restricted by the price ? if not, go the Hoyt Ultratec, or the Mathews Switchback.

Just so happens there's a l-o-v-e-l-y Switchback package for sale in the classifieds... I heard the bloke who's letting her go is tops- he'll throw in a top-notch release aid too...

Thanks for the comments

I am restricted by price and dont really want to spend much more then $600 on a bare bow. I would really like to go for the switchback unfortunatley bow hunting is just one of my hobbies and I have had to draw a line.

I normally would buy from a sponsor but I want to try the bow before I buy it. I am south of Sydney and I am guessing Real is a fair distance from me making it kinda hard to do this.

Hunted, Its the only way to go, try before you buy. Big Must these days. Each bow has its subtle difference, but I think I would go for a P3 over the Sabre or Phantom2. But again PSE with the longer A2A are smooth bow as well.

For a straight out of the box hunting setup I think you should look at the Bowtech Tomkat.

You get the following as a package:

Bow
Quiver
Whisker Biscuit rest
Pin Sight
Peep Sight
Wrist Sling

Pricing is in the mid $800s and all you need from there is a release and arrows.

Bow spec is 31 1/2" Axle to Axle with a brace of 8 5/8" IBO 315fps

All up a neat little package that will take down alot of game.

I have decided to go with the Phantom 2. I got to play with one today and it is a nice bow and is sure a step up from the old PSE.
Thanks for the help guys

Hunted i do with Friar, We have the same package in store and very very nice package indeed. Once you put all those extra on ya P2 you be pushin close to the same amount as the Tomkat. Tomkat has the smaller A2A to make her a little quicker but again you may not need all of those fancy pansy stuff.

I have all the other bits to go on the bow. Most of my gear except for the bow is less then a year old. I will however need a new quiver but that is about it.

In that case, go the Martin and suggest a Cougar 6 quiver in Mossy Oak in the mid range price or 2 piece Martin Quiver is the poo (gggooood) but adds a little more weight! Can be adapted to everything including Jaguars, they both look the part. or better again Neet Hip Quiver (for broadheads)

Yeah Mate, but I againt going to BS to you, by the time we get it (3000km norht of you and send it back down, your better of buying from a sponsor or archery store down your neck of the woods. Save money that way. Freight is one of our biggest killers.

gday mate ive heard theyre bringing in the new martin jaguar sorta thing and its speed is like 330 fps or some huge umber like that check it out

Friar Tuck

Could be the Martin Bengal you're talking about. IBO is 310fps. The bows riser is a split affair ie: not machined from a one piece billet which allow them to keep the costs down.

A to A 32"
Brace 6 3/4"

Looks like a good entry level bow which will take alot of game.

I have seen the bengal on the Martin site. Anyone got any ideas when the 2007 bows will be available in Australia?
