We got these guys on film yesterday.
Note the one with his right antler growing down.
There are a few turkeys here as well.
I think the racks are so cool in velvet.
Enjoy.

Are Whitetail deer like Chamois that change colour? I mean like Chamois they a have very different coats colour for what ever season there in, and also are these the small variety of deer from this state, or do they get allot bigger come the rut or winter?

And I bet the anticipation is really building!

They dont really change colors as the seasons change that I have ever noticed. These deer are lighter color as they hang in open fileds and along hedgerows most of their lives. I have seen swamp deer that were almost pure black having not seen a great deal of sunlight.
These are all last years bucks I reckon, thats why they are so small.
I had a pic of a mature buck that was twice the size of these guys in body and had his antlers forking already as well, but the picture was crap. I hope to get some bigger bucks on film later in the week.
I wish I could hunt them this year but we head back home on August 5th, and hunting season starts September 30th. Maybe next year though.
