Have heard of a few people taking of the string silencers on the mathews xt has anyone done this and if so did you pick up a few fps, would this void warranty.
A big yes on the warranty if you take out the supressors you have VOID your warranty.Guys having been doing it with the Mathews bows for a while to pick up extra speed but the whole range of hunting bows do over 300 IBO so how fast do you need to go.IMHO a quiet hunting bow is more important than a faster one.

Vipertec- this is a direct quote from the Mathews website FAQ:
Can I take the string suppressor arms off and still shoot my bow? "NO, this would not be a safe thing to do. To incorporate the suppressor arms, the limbs must be drilled and the arms put on and then screws installed. If removed, it could make the limbs weak and could possibly cause damage to the bow and/or personal injury."

I agree with Patela and Kimall don't remove them- I would even put them on other manufacturers' compounds that I own if it were possible.

I find it hard to comprehend, how taking the brackets off the end of the limbs, would damage them, more than leaving them on, holes or no holes.
besides, why couldn't you fill the holes with apoxy, or substitute the brackets with a small threaded plate.

I don't get it.... And it's Mr Reynolds TO YOU! :D
Wareagle- I agree, I wouldn't think it's such a big deal. Mathews probably just want to CYA. Thought I'd include the quote for the "official word". Still would leave 'em on myself- I saw a high speed photo taken of the degree to which the string suppresors stop forward movement of the string- it's a lot. I suppose that depends on whether the archer thinks stopping the string at an earlier point (than a bow without string suppersors) is benefial or not. Any thoughts?

Ant, I saw a photo that has been displayed around the forums, of an archer shooting a Swichback. the string was touching, or close to touching the launcher. An STS would be more useful. The trouble with the suppressors is, you need to keep a check on the brace height, if the string stretches and lowers the string on the rubbers, accuracy goes out the door.
