View Full Version : Bow slings who uses them
Hi guys just wondering how many use bow slings. I have been told that they are the way togo. Brought 1 put it on and all I seem to get is cramps in my hand. I shoot with an open grip (fingers and thumb pointed at full draw) and haven't found any benefit from the sling.
Am I doing something wrong or is a sling not for me? Any nice thoughts or suggestions.

Timbo I use a hand sling on my bow (now in retirement due to a busted limb  waiting to get another ) and have never had a problem with cramps.
Have you got it tight against your wrist????
the sling is more there for just to stop the bow falling to the ground after release so if it's tight it's not right it needs to be loose.
Where in the south east are you??

It's quite simple. If you are holding the bow correctly (as described by coach) the bow will leave your hand and end up on the floor. If it doesn't then you are gripping eth bow and imparting torque.
You may find more comfort with a wrist or finger sling instead.
Hi Guys,
Thanks for the feed back. I have it "firm" at the moment so will let it out a bit and try curling the fingers and then see what happens.
Hood, I hide in Mount Gambier.

Marcus, :D :D cant say it any better than that.
I use it to "catch" the bow after firing, because if I don't the bow falls foreward (ultimately to the ground). If you already shoot with an open hand with no probs, why do you need a sling at all?
Ah Blue Lake City, much game around there????

Hi Hood, there appear to be a few ferals getting about down the street! But none that I would call trophy class
There are plenty of rabbits and the foxes are getting a bit thick on the ground. The farmers that I have spoken to have said that there are a few deer about (Mackadeledgend has been doing his bit in the region to control the numbers, half his luck). I haven't had a chance to get out and check them out myself (About to roll over some brownie points with the trouble and strife) I have access to a couple of properties around here and a couple across the border in Vic as well.
Cheers Tim
Good going Timbo and good luck with the deer mate.
