What does everyone use (if at all)?
I'm thinking about getting out the wallet...

I have a Nikon sky and earth 60mm scope. It was very good value from ebay. I am very happy with mine. The 80mm is even better, a friend has one.
There are many to choose from and they can cost quite a bit. Stay away from the cheap stuff, and stick with the reputable brands, as you'll always end up disappointed and want to buy something better in the end.
Buy the best you can afford and buy it once.

I agree with Antonio,
Always buy the best you can afford, that way you'll only need to buy it once. Spotting scopes are very task specific.

Unless you are really choosy about sizing trophies from a distance (too far for binoculars to discriminate) or are spotting animals at extreme distances, I don't think it is a necessary item.

They are however very good if you have a good vantage point to further discriminate objects that you have found with binoculars but can't quite determine the size of antlers/horns or if that black object is actually a pig etc..

You could try Horsley Park Gun Shop as I know they have a fair few in stock at least that way you can see what the differences are between the models & get an idea on prices.

I can't comment on them as I have never used one.

Cheers

Astronomy On Line have a good range. Don't let the name fool you they are hunter & shooter friendly as they stock a good range of rifle scopes.
(they also sell range finders, bino's etc etc etc)

I've bought a few bits from them recently. The shop is in Brookvale.
