View Full Version : removing tusks
I've just started boiling out some tusks for the first time, yep after five years of hunting I finaly stumbled across a blind deaf pig. Anyway, how long do you boil the jaw for before attempting to pull the tusks out.
Stu
Mate I would let them boil for about 30 min and then try get a cloth and see if you can push the tusk in a bit further first and then pull it out in one move if you can't move it boil it for a bit longer
Cheers
Paul
Try this Stu.

Well done Stunva,
Any pig on the ground is a good one, you will always remember your first of many.
Cheers Noel

Thanks guy's.
Do you recognise the bow "Howling Dog".
It was a great day, we (4 of us) shot 5 pigs, 5 goats, 1 hare for the day but only claimed a pig and a goat (both mine 8-)). It was just one of those days when you had to look where you were walking incase you trod on a goat or pig, or a red belly black snake too.
Even as we were driving away we looked back along the ridge and saw another mob of goats, half way home we had almost ran over three foxes, you know the days I mean.
That was my fist pig ever but like mentioned above here, the flood gates kind of opened up, I put an arrow in two more during the day, pretty annoyed about not finding one of them as it was a bit bigger than this fella.
Here is the goat. It was another guys stalk but he got busted early and from where I was watching I just slid on my but down to a swarl in the hill and bobbed up and nailed it at about 23mtr. I thought I had missed as I had to just graze the back of a smaller billy to get a good kill. I didnt see the hit but the walky talkies came alive from everyone else watching saying how much claret was on the far side I couldnt see, 30-40min later I found him with his legs in the air. My best goat so far too, 92 3/4.
