Hi guys looking to purchase my first compound. Money is a little tight and im using my birthday in June to my advantage. Planning to go to my local shops and see what sort of package deal they can do me on a second hand bow, i figure ill be able to afford a slightly better second hand bow then new one. If i cant afford that im looking at bows like the compounds sets at http://www.hoddywell.com.au/BOWS-COMPLETESET.html ...do you think these would be dodgy for the price? As in dodgy enough to not want to buy? Thanks for your help. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Paul

Bowriver, go for the most bow you can get for your money. It's better to get a good quality second hand bow than a new cheap model bow. It wont be long and you'll be looking to buy a better quality, higher performance compound. Just wish someone told me this when I was looking to buy my first bow...Scott

Our club bows are the ones from Hoddywell and while the owner of hoddywell is a top guy, these bows arn't much chop. I'd suggest getting and old martin like firecat. I shot one for years and it never failed on me. They are really cheap to buy second hand these days too.

What draw length, poundage and shooting style are you. sights unsighted.
Ill keep an eye out for you.

Bowriver, The Martin bow pakages offer you a lot of bang for your buck,(no pun intended), they are very smooth & have some very good features. You might want to try Australian E-Bay, there are always a few deals to be had on there, have seen the odd Martin Jaguar on there. Best of luck with the shopping.

Cheers guys pm'd you Kim, cheers Adam as i told Kim since im a beginner and have only shot bows that were not properly set up for me im not real sure on specs. I want the bow for hunting, and also shooting targets for practice in my spare time (but not competitivly) so i guessed about 65 pound? But like i said i got N.F.I !
