View Full Version : another knife! (with pics)
Well, after bugging Jindy with heaps of what I'm sure became more and more annoying questions :P , I finally bought and completed a knife from a kit off ebay. I started small, just attached and shaped the handle.
After talking to Jindy I wasn't gonna bother with a gut hook but this one looked cool and was the best price I'd found for this particular type of steel (AUS 8 ) so what the hey. I really like the effect of the veneers in the handle (resin-impregnated dymondwood).

Excellent knife Hefty - well done
Hope you get to use it on our upcoming trip mate. No way we're letting Luke out of it.
I'm getting the leatherwork stuff from mum in October when i am up in QLD.
Let's do a swap. Make me a knife and i'll make you a sheath. Come on, you have seen some of my work.
If anyone else wants a leather sheath hand made after that i will see what i can do. I would probably need the knife itself or a lot of photos and a template of it.

I should not laugh, my last one bit me a couple of times and I always manage atleast one nick when doing my broadheads.

Bloody good job mate.
Does the thong hole have a brass tube in it?
Unfortunately, no. It looks lighter from the reflection of the flash from the bench underneath. If I find some the right size I might retro fit it and just re-polish that section.
BTW, thanks Jindy and everyone for your comments. You're right, I think it's "gut" me hooked (you're a funny one Ant!)

You will find the tubing at a hobby shop, where they sell model planes and RC cars and stuff. Just take the knife down and try some out. Get one that isn't too tight or the epoxy won't have any room to work. You need one that is a firm fit but that doesn't need to be forced to go in.
Cheers Jindy! I'll do that when I get a spare minute.
