Ok as most of you are aware over the last 3 months I have been in the process of buying out another Fiancial Planning Business. I have been in negotiations with this person who is retiring for about 18 months.

The business is slightly smaller than my existing client base but also has a slightly better fee per client.

It has taken me 6 years to build my practice to a point where I have it working the way I want (ie I am actually making any money). The benefit of this purchase is I can manage the extra clients without any significant increase in costs ie I dont need more office space, staff, computer systems etc. Which means apart from working for a salary I will actually be able to make some profit (would be novel  ).

Today, contracts have been agreed on, processes organised. Systems changed, files updated, business name changed blah blah blah.

The only hold up has been of course.... you guessed it...... THE BANK!!!!

Now this morning I recieved an email saying they expect to be able to provide approval today. Which means our contract will become unconditional. So I can tell you if that happens its going to be a big night!!!

Now if you know banks like I know banks then you wont be surprised if that doesnt happen for another week

So fingers crossed.

Good luck with that mate, i opened my own business couple of months ago. Doing quite well plenty of clients good word of mouth ie people like us, but so far 99.9% of money we bring in goes straight on expenses like rent and stock. Business seems to get better and better evryday so hoping soon to actually have some sort of profit.

P.S alot of our customers have started coming to us rather then dealing with the company i came from, alot have said they will now refuse to deal with them and will only come to us. Not gonna mention any names but stick that up ya! Thats what you get for not appreciating how damn hard i worked for em!

I have been pretty quiet on here of late as I am in the midst of moving and expanding my business.

Baz, I am having the same trouble with my bank.

They have given tentative approval for the overdraft, but are very slow in providing the appropriate forms.

Setting up POS systems, PLUs, business plans and budget forecasts are a pain in the a**e.

Looking forward to the weekend hunt (new property, lots of Deer no paperwork :D )

Both, mate.

Moving to another town and quadrupling the business.

Exciting and freightening all at the one time.

Nothing like having your own business, hey.

Thats a shameless plug, Mick (well done, just like a true businessman  )
