Would like to know peoples views on hunting alone. I am 22years old and have just moved to a new state. Have found a hunting property but dont know anyone to hunt with. Members views on safety tips for hunting alone would be appreciated. Also any safety tips. I think I have them all covered but you never know :? :D So happy to have found this site. It looks 8) Hope to make some friends in the sport. Hope I have got this right if not please excuse my mistakes and point me in the right direction. Thanks  :) :)

I think that its a bit safer to hunt with some one but keep a bit of distance between you and you mate but thats me

I prefer to hunt alone...but that is just me.

I find a certain amount of peace in the bush and hunting alone, I don't have to rush for someone else. I can take as long as I like and hunt as far as I like without worrying.

If you are a little unsure, try a few small hunts and always tell someone roughly where you are going. If you are hunting private property, you would normally ring ahead or call in to state your intentions anyway so someone will know you are there.

I suppose it just depends on what you hope to get out of it....

I totally agree.
Also let them know when you plan to be done hunting so they know when to start looking for you.
Other than that just use common sense.

I prefer to hunt alone but always ensure that someone knows where I am and when I expect to be back.

Make sure your pack is ready for any emergencies, have a decent first aid kit and know how to use it, carry some form of communication with you (I always have a CDMA phone with me), carry a bit of extra food and water, take matches or lighter and keep your fitness levels up to the terrain that you are hunting.

I also prefer to hunt alone. But hunting with a good 'bow buddy' is great too.

I feel alot more 'stealth' and inhibited by myself though.

If i go alone or with someone i always take a small first aid kit.

Being snake bit is my greatest fear as i hunt in long grass for rabbits in summer and see many snakes.........I always have a compression bandage with me in my first aid kit.

If you can't hunt with anyone.........prepare yourself before you go with things that you might need, and ALWAYS tell someone where you are going and when you WILL BE Back. Also if you tell someone where you are going...........go to that place and don't detour and go somewhere else!

Thanks for all the feedback guys. Pretty much what I thought. Always have safety gear First aid kit and let people know where I am just used to hunting with others thats all. Nice to see so many people willing to offer good advice and who follow safe hunting practices. Going for goats in 1 month so that will be fun. Have a friend coming with me on that one though. Hope I get a good trophy. Will post a story if I do. Will probably be really short and read something like Holy **** Holy**** Look what I have done! Will be a proud day. Wish me luck I'm gonna need it!

good advice so far. if you prefer to hunt with someone maybe you should tell us which state/area you are in, maybe you'll meet someone on here to hunt with.

it is safe but nowhere near as much fun than hunting with your mates. We hunt apart sometimes or together and it is great fun bulls**ing all night about the game you saw and they did not and the game they missed and you got and just the comradery that bowhunters seem to have. Much more fun when you and your mate a trying to get away from an angry old boar than facing one on your own, that is scarey knowing in the back of your mind that you are alone in the situation.. have been in both and having a mate to help out is the better option. I also have just as much fun seeing my mates stalk and take game as i do taking it. If you can find someone to hunt with grab them it makes the trip, but good hunting partners are hard to find and a bad one can ruin a trip.

Hey guys,
just so you know, "miss quiver" is a fake name used by a banned member some time back in an attempt to circumvent their banning
