Peter Brock 'killed in crash'
Motor racing champion Peter Brock has reportedly been killed in an accident in Western Australia.
A car competing in the Targa West rally crashed into a tree at Gidgegannup about 30 kilometres north-east of Perth about 12pm, a Western Australia police spokesman told smh.com.au.
The car was carrying two people and one had died in the crash, he said.
The major crash investigation unit was at the scene, he said.
He said he could not confirm the driver was Mr Brock, although that he is being broadcast on Sky News.
Just been told that 5 times in ten minutes. Another loss for the world.

I grew up loving Brock and his racing. My mom still has my pedalcar in her shed, it has a big number 5 on the front.

What a week !! and just a little ironic that both Irwin and now Brocky died doing what they loved to do !!! I can only hope that I too may share a similar fate...not for a few years yet though !! RIP Peter Brock :(
Ditto Johnno,
Having to pass while laying in bed "dreaming of being out there" is the sadest thing I can imagine, yet it happens to so many of us.
I count these kings amongst men, where society bears down apon our loves and causes them to be only indulgent fantasies, they pursue their passions with everything they have and come out ontop.
This man was a true legend, did what he loved and kept doing it until fate would no longer allow him to continue.
The rest of us can only admire.
RIP Peter Brock

Peter Brock was a rarity amongst celebrities. He shared a long, loving relationship with his wife. He wasn't "up" himself and he didn't try to push his view of the world onto us, as many in his position wouldn't be able to resist doing. He was, as far as I know, an all round nice bloke and I'm very saddened to hear of this tragic event.

This is in fact true. This man was the author of many many Australian novells, particularly known for his most famous: Stormboy.
He is/was the father of a lady whom I work with, a teacher at my school. My principal is her husband and Colin's son in law.
He was buried today at Dayborough just outside Brisbane in a private chapel ceremony.
Another tragic loss of a great Australian and of course deepest sympathies go to his family.
The death of Brocky is terrible to say the least. Certainly a boyhood idle of mine. "Peter Perfect" - The King of the Mountain...
Long live '05!

Don Chip died last weekend.
Pardon my ignorance :? Who was Don Chip
I was actually thinking of someone with a much higher profile and someone who everyone knows...I don't read any novels so I am not familiar with authors and Don Chipp has been very low key over the last few years allthough there deaths are also very tragic...

Pardon my ignorance Who was Don Chip
He use to be a Liberal senator who quit the party and then founded the Democrats.
Being a die hard Brocky fan the news broke my heart.
He was an absolute legand by anyones standards.
I have a few things signed by the man including model cars and posters. All of which have just taken on an even more sentimental value for me as I shook his hand after he signed them.
He will be sadly missed both on and off the track.
RIP 05
i liked peter brocks character and his attitude towards racing and competition, he will be missed by all

I think Peter was genuinely a nice guy and I loved to watch him race. A great shame....
So far my wife has met 4 celebrities and 3 have passed away, she thinks she is cursed.
1 st was Princess Di
2 nd Steve Irwin
3 rd Peter Brock
The other celebrity is Eric Banna, so I'm hoping my wife is wrong because I think hes a really good actor with some good movies left in him....

Another true Australian dead way too early. What a tragic week for Australia. We can all take heart in that Peter died doing what he loved most just, like Steve Irwin.
RIP Peter Brock
hopefully it'll be germaine queer
Can't wait to see what she has to say about him... "he drove too fast" "bit his finger nails" or "was cruel to those little green gheco things"
It certainly is a tragic loss. RIP Pete.
