View Full Version : Dodgy Buy Online Web Sites
I would like to start this thread because of the hazards associated with buying goods online.
I ordered a camera from an online shop in Brisbane called ICentral,
They were very reassuring at first and I was told the camera was in stock and I would have it in a week.
6 weeks later after many unreturned emails and phone calls the guy rings me and checks my address again because he reckoned that I gave the wrong address when I filled out the form page. Now I know for sure I filled it out correctly cause I always double check them and for $800 your gonna make sure you get the address right.
It arrived 12 hours before i was getting on a plane to go on holidays.
The guy who runs the place abused me on the phone aswell and I had several arguments with him.
I would certainly warn anyone from buying from this company.
Does anyone else have any unpleasant experiences with companies like this because it is good to know of the ones to watch out for.
They could have at least been honest and told me the situation right from the start.
For example I bought a selway quivver from Whitings warehouse and they told me it was gonna be a while . Fair enough ,at least I knew and I would buy from them again cause they were honest. :D
Its these one that bulls##t to you that deserve to be named and shamed
Whattya reckon
I once bought a desktop computer and all the accessories off the net froma mob for about $2000...it came with a full surround sound system and DVD player - free! Sweet!
It all arived, no probs.
I set it up and shortly there after the monitor died
I rang them and they said pack it up (the comp only) and return it, they'd replace it all under warranty.
I did.
Phone calls to and fro for about a three week period chasing it up afterwards and then one day nothing!
I faxed, emailed and rang...nothing.
I asked on AF if someone in the area local to the business (in Sydney) would drop by. They did and took a photograph of the repossion notice placed on the front window of the "shop".
They had gone bust, I had no PC and had to contact the people placed in charge of the assetts. I was listed as a creditor
I was advised to contact my credit card provider as this was how I'd payed. I did this, contacted virgin credit and they refunded me the cost :P
So, after much headache, I ended up with a free $1990 surround sound system...and used the refund to go buy a laptop!
So it all worked out in the end I guess...
Luke
PS. A side note to this story is that on mother's day of last year, that laptop got stolen when my unit was broken into and now I have an upgraded one due to my home and contents insurance! ;)

I'm not saying Kustom King Archery www.kustomkingarchery.com is dodgy. I have had nothing but praise for them in the past. Praise for great prices and great service. They always sent my items wrapped in a logical way to provide adequate protection from bumbs and knocks, yet lightweight so as to minimise postage costs.
There was one little hiccup though, I had one item that order that never turned up about a year ago. When I contacted them, I felt that they suspected me of trying to scam them. After about 4 weeks, I received an email from them apologising profusely, saying that they had inadvertantly sent my order to Victoria Canada and it had come back to them "address unknown". They quickly sent a replacement parcel.
A couple of weeks ago, I placed another "online" order with Kustom King Archery. It wasn't huge, it was for approximately US$60.00 or so. In the past, I always received a confirmation email from them, giving details of the order, etc. On this occasion there was no confirmatory email, so I assumed that maybe the order didn't go through for some reason. I waited a few days, but still no confirmatory email, so I decided to send them an email, asking them whether or not they had received my order because if they hadn't received it, I could simply reorder it straight away. I received an automatic response from Kustom King acknowledging the fact that they had received my enquiry only. Now it's two weeks later and still no sign of my order and what's particularly annoying, still no "human" response to my email either. :?
I can't tell whether or not my Visa card payment has gone through until I receive my statement. I don't know what's going on. :x
I'm tempted to simply reorder with a different company like 3 Rivers Archery www.3riversarchery.com , but you know what will happen if I do that, don't you? I'll run the risk of ending up with twice as much gear as I want, after the first order turns up.
I wanted the gear last week. I don't like being stuffed around and you shouldn't be, afterall they are taking my money and in return they are supposed to provide customer service.
Not happy Jan.!

I have delt with Stager Sport a couple of times as I am a dealer for them but their service is the worst level I have EVER seen. They wont answer phone calls and when you leave a message they never get back to you. They say they have stock and two weeks later and after mabey 10 phone calls you get told they are out of stock and will be 2 weeks before there is more stock this then blows out to 2 months still no phone call and I got invoiced for the goods I never got.I ignored this bill in disgust and then was sent another bill this time with interest because I had not payed the first one.Still no goods but I got the little note in the m/box saying I have a parcel.Yippeee it has been about 3 months and it will prob be wrong anyway. Why bother you ask and I agree but it was a special reguest for a mate so gave it another try but NO MORE.
Cheers KIM
You do get them, in the early 90's I was a dealer for a well known bow maker in the States, I paid all the money up front for a shipment of bows that was promised in six weeks, 11 months later they turned up, the one that was a custom order wasn't right and they told me to give the customer back his money and they would send a new bow, when I asked them when the new bow was coming I was told to resell the bow and cut my losses, nice bastards.
I also sent a bow to and Australian magazine for a bow test, the bow was never returned and I was told it was lost in transit by the freight company, I was never reimbursed the $900.oo for that bow either, just bad luck it seems...Glenn...
