Timber shaft straightening.

Hi lads, just wanting to know the different ways we all straighten arrows, and what you’ve found most affective. I’m currently straightening 50 hardwood shafts, so far I’m just running them over my knee causing heat and a minus de-flex. Its getting them pretty good but there must be better ways.

Thanks

Adam

Mate I just bunch them up in groups of 6 with a few carbon shafts and wrap about a dozen elastic bands spaced evenly around them and sit them on my office desk for a few weeks and hey presto all nice and straight  .

It seems to be working for me so I keep doing it and keep getting nice straight wooden shafts

Adam I use your method also but for the stubborn shafts I like the compression method. Just sight down the shaft, turn the round up and using something hard like the shaft of a screwdriver, a chrome one is best so it wont mark the shaft you just stroke the round down a few times then sight t see if it is straight, just repeat until the shaft is straight. By doing it this way you are compressing the fibres of the shaft which strengthens the shaft on the round and tends to hold the shaft straight where other methods fail...Glenn...

Will try that Glenn, a few arrows bend over the last couple of inches but this method of compressing should get that out.
