Please note that to any member out there which chase sambar in the Warburton area there has been a new closure which includes not only state land but private land as well, this has come about by the minority who still flout the laws and use spotlights, and trespass upon private property, because of concerns of these matters and "hunters" coming in very close to residential areas this area has now been closed.Wesburn to Brahams Rd Missippi Creek track Old Warby Rd back to Wesburn.Hunting on private land cannot be undertaken unless the land holder has a ATCW (authority to control Wildlife)unfortuantley the genuine hunter is again penalised by the few which prefer the illegal means of taking game,I have personally spent a lot of time in this area over the last few months to see a doe that was to be scared off by the doggers,I will now have to start my research again in a new area. Please refer to Map 70 on the DSE web site for more accurate boundries.Quote from Vic police" If we find that the closed area is not sufficent to adequatley protect the safety of residents and visitors Victoria Police will consider seeking to extend the closed area.If hunters do the right thing, and the majority do ther will be no need to go down that path" So in closing if you see something suspicous or some one doing the wrong thing take down there rego number and report it to the Police or DSE we dont want to lose any more areas due to irresposible "hunters".Even the police acknowledge most hunters are responsible Quote"While the behaviour of deer hunters in recent times has generally been of a high standard in this area there have been complaints to police over a long period regarding hunting to close to the town, hunting on private property without permission, illegal spotlighting and trespass" :x
