View Full Version : Realy sad
I was up in the NT for ten days since last monday night, whilst i was up there i did lots of shooting and dogging ( please forgive me :) ). It realy tore me up inside to see the damage the cane toads have done and are doing up there. i shot around 37 with and airrifle on a 5 acre property, but the realy amount of cane toads around didnt hit me untill we went dogging at night, cane toads could be heard in the grass whilst we were driving. I personally killed 18 walking back to the car in about a 50 meter distance. It made me extremely sad to see no big old goannas and to not here the quolls fighting at night. I am extremely upset about this environmental disaster, this kind of thing realy tears me up in the guts. sorry for the rant had to get it out.
It is very sad. How many times have Australians thought to solve a problem with foreign animals and plants by introducing other foreign animals and plants. There have to be better, more logical and farsighted options we could use.
Cane beetles, cane toads what's next? Toad eating gorillas?! :?
its quite funny why they bought them to aust. they thought it would control the cane beetle... stupid people diddnt figure that toads cant jup 3 inches high. but we get heaps down where i live. the animals are slowly gettin to know that they are bad cos the birds are flipping them over and eating the guts out.
stump shooting practice takes on a new meaning eh :) wish there was a virus they could release to kill all the buggers off

whats domestos do to them
When we lived in Townsville in 1979-80 Dad use to use them for golf practice. He would lob them over the back fence with his 9 iron. Boy did they make a loud pop when they got hit
We use to fish them out of the dogs water and play cricket with them as kids.
ill be clubbing some in 2 days 8)
Mix 50/50 dettol and water and put it in a spray bottle and give them a couple of squirts, they usually just roll over and go to sleep peacefully.
whats domestos do to them

soon all Kimberleys will be silent and devoid of carnivores due to toads.
and how about poor tassie devils - dying in agony with that tumour disease.
