Hi all,

During Movember (the month formerly known as November) the "TBGA Mo Bro's" will be growing moustaches. That’s right we're bringing the Mo back because we're passionate about changing the state of men’s health.

Thanks to Clinglish for bringing this to our attention!

Male health is a major issue, did you know:

Men are far less healthy than women.

The average life expectancy of males is 6 years less than females.

Every year in Australia 2,700 men die of prostate cancer - more than the number of women who die from breast cancer.

Depression affects 1 in 6 men…Most don’t seek help. Untreated depression is a leading risk factor for suicide. Rates of suicide are more than double the national road toll.

Help us change the face of men’s health by sponsoring our mo's.

Please go to http://www.movember.com.au/au/sponsor, enter our Rego number which is 11017.

The money raised by Movember will be used to change the face of men's health by creating awareness and funding research into prostate cancer and male depression.

If you'd like to come aboard and join us in helping raise some much needed funds for a very worthy cause please go to www.movember.com and join our team. You'll need our Rego number of 11017 and my email addy which is lukeagriffin@yahoo.com.au

Cheers and here's to a month of mo grooming and the best Boonie look alike competittion ever! ;)

cheers,

Luke
(On behalf of Clinglish and The TBGA Management Team)

More info is available at www.movember.com.au

Movember is proudly grown by Motorola, Polaroid, Remington and VB.

Movember is proud partners with the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue - the national depression initiative.

An additional point I'd like to add is that I have a personal motivation for wanting to raise the awareness of and help to find a cure for prostate cancer given that my father was diagnosed with it not so long ago.

Treatment has gone very well as it was detected early and things are OK.

I can't urge enough though, like the TV add says, BE A MAN, go get checked. They don't have to shove fingers up ya bum anymore  .

A simple blood test can be done, certain levels of Antigens measured are used as an indicator as to the potential presence of cancer or not.

If you're over 40, go do it...it could save your life. It did my Dad's.

Gentlemen, I too shall "don the moustache". Reminds me of my Spitfire flying days. Count me in, by jove. Tally Ho!
And gents, may I suggest that an adornment on one's upper lip not be taken lightly; indeed it may be poignant to engage in some tactical planning beforehand. Please peruse the briefing below:
DalÃ* - narrow, long points bent or curved steeply upward; areas past the corner of the mouth must be shaved. Artificial styling aids needed. Named after Salvador DalÃ* who was known to sport such a style later in his life.
English - narrow, beginning at the middle of the upper lip the whiskers are very long and pulled to the side, slightly curled; the ends are pointed slightly upward; areas past the corner of the mouth usually shaved. Artificial styling may be needed.
Fu Manchu - long, downward pointing ends, generally beyond the chin;
'Pancho Villa' moustache - similar to the Fu Manchu but thicker; also known as a "droopy moustache", generally much more so than that normally worn that the historical Pancho Villa.
Handlebar - bushy, with small upward pointing ends. See baseball pitcher Rollie Fingers. Also known as a "spaghetti moustache", due to it being stereotypically associated with Italian men.
Imperial - whiskers growing from both the upper lip and cheeks, curled upward (distinct from the royale, or impériale)
Moustachio or mustachio - large luxuriant moustache, with hair sometimes growing down the sides of the mouth. Also known as a Nosebeard.
Pencil moustache - narrow, thin, closely clipped, outlining the upper lip, with a wide shaven gap between the nose and moustache. Also known as a Mouthbrow. See John Waters.
Toothbrush - thick, but shaved except for about an inch (2.5 cm) in the center; associated with Adolf Hitler and Charlie Chaplin
Walrus - bushy, hanging down over the lips, often entirely covering the mouth

I feel priveliged to be involved in such a fund/awareness raiser as this. Excellent to see prostate cancer awareness catching up with breast cancer awareness. "She'll be right, mate" just isn't good enough. My Dad suffered for many, many years with severe depression before his eventual early departure. I urge anyone who knows a man or youth battling depression to support them in seeking competent advice.
Top photo Robbo! Are all TBGA team members to post a photo of their baby-smooth faces (maybe with a newspaper front page to prove date)?

I went the full shave last night in prepararion (the most shaved I've been since end of grade 12!) and I got before and after photos. Unfortunately I left the camera at home so I'll have to post them tomorrow and then keep up the MMM's (mid-movember moments) as we go.

Well this whole MOvember thing has just taken on a whole new meaning for me.
I recieved a phone call from my Dad last night, turns out that my Grandfather has just been diagnosed with Prostate cancer :(
He had been getting up every hour during the night to pee and not having much luck. Went to the Doc and had a blood test done.
When they do this blood test there is a scale they use from 1 to 40, 40 being the worst. His results came back in the high 30's he's having the final test in a weeks time to confirm this. But so far the Docs are saying that it's not looking good for him.

Well looks like I'm screwed then, both Dad and Grandad are diabetics and a history of skin cancers and now Prostate cancer

So please help out us MO Bro's and donante to the cause as well as get your selves checked.

I would just like to take this time to say sorry. :(

I was participating in the "Movember" campaign (at work we are making a donation) however I looked so suspect with the pitiful growth between my mouth and nose that parents of small children were getting a tighter grip of their children when I was around. So, to ease the concerns of parents in popular shopping complexes, I have shaved it off.

It was getting to the point where it was embarrassing even walking out of the house with it.

We are still making the donation and the other people at work are making up for my short comings.

Cheers
