Thats good footage of how much a deer can drop before the arrow gets there. If you hold your cursor on its heart area and watch where you would have shot, when his arrow gets to the deer. Over its back!!

Yeah I did the same with my curser.
Deer in a Can
Corn kernels on the ground to put him in front of the blind , 8 foot fence behind him , this is deer shooting !!! not deer hunting , more and more we will see this , its distinctly different to all the values we have in mind when we step into the bush to find game.
Its a bit like fishing with a Generator or Dynamite.
It is a Repugnant activity and would be difficult to feel any pride in.
Deer represent the true wild animal , keen senses , fast , Alert , put them inside a high fence and grain feed them and they are little more than sheep , would one of these men Que to shoot a sheep , It is an achievement on that level by my reckoning.
Shame they feel the need to video it , is all I would say.
Why would you bother, Id rather walk around the field course with my mates.
Why would anyone want to video themself being such a d#%khead.

Easy Guys.. Just because it is not something we would do DOES NOT make it wrong for everyone. For some people time restrictions only allow this type of hunting. In fact I know a couple people that have taken deer this way and I dont hold it against them.
Why is it that because we dont agree with the way someone hunts we automatically have to start name calling and bad mouthing? :( We should be above it.
It is legal in some places. So he wasnt breaking any laws.

Just because something is legal doesnt make it right, I know that this sort of activity goes on in Australia as well and I do hope that most Australian bowhunters can stay above hunting in enclosed areas for the sake of killing an animal, personally I find this sort of hunting offensive and immoral, I hope that most Australians can stay above hunting animals under these circumstances, I can't call these animals game because they are not wild, they are purely domestic stock...Glenn...

I have to agree with you XT,we should be above it.But like all that are on this site i consider myself a bowhunter, and to me that was just a glory chasing slaughter of domestic deer.(although he claims that the deer fence was simply a divider on the propety)Thats still ok with me.
My beef is that he recorded the footage and broadcasted it internationally as a "bowhunting" clip.
Making it just that little bit harder for blokes like you and me to justify our sport/hobby/passion.

Maybe the deer is on the outside of the deer fence and not on the inside...In NSW I'm pretty sure it's illegal to put down attractants to bring the deer in...Anyway,to each his own...

Ditto as to what Glenn said.
It' s here in Oz and NZ. Shooting "game" that are going to bump this SCI score or that one is a rather poor outlook on life. Sport for the lazy, fat and or rich IMO.

Hunting is not a right in our country and if come to be seen by the people in power here (and the people that advise them) as being willing to allow our ego and our ability to pay to outweigh our sense of fair chase then how long do you think we will be allowed to keep hunting. We have seen in the NT the crocodile safari program get knocked on the head because the notion of “trophy hunting” doesn’t sit well with the federal Liberal government. What will happen if a State gov’ gets in with the same ideas as the Federal gov’ and they decide to ban trophy hunting?
A sport that is full of people that support an ethical model that allows hunting over baits or in pens because “it isn’t my cup of tea, but if they are hunters and they want to do this then I wont speak out against them” is going to be seen as a group that is really all about ego, and it will be argued that the welfare of the animals rates a poor second to the size of the trophy and we will see our pastime legislated away.
In NSW the scenario seen in the film is not likely to occur. It is possible that someone might try to stack the odds in their favour but in NSW it is illegal to hunt deer over a lure or bait, and “game ranches” are illegal also.
The comment on that web page that the deer are wild has to be taken with a grain of salt also. 8” high boundary fences make it a game ranch, and in Texas these days you would be lucky to find any wild deer on private property, the place is being taken over by “game parks” because it is one of the only US states to allow them (Michigan is another). It is no accident that the WHA (insert spew smily) run their program in Michigan and Texas. Wild deer do exist in Texas, but have a look at the US hunting forums to see how few hunting opportunities are available to someone without a fat wallet.

i see where xt is coming from, but imo, hunting is a sport that requires accuracy, consistancy and PATIENCE. hunting, especially deer, is a sport that i think should take time!!! shurely it shouldnt be that easy to take such a beutiful specimen of blacktail... like was said earlier, hunting for the sake of killing... if your gonna hunt like that, go to a taxidermist and bie a mounted head...
like i said, IMO
