A relative visiting from the US has given me a number of bowhunting DVD's including PSE's Bowhunting Dangerous Game.
As the title suggests, a number of dangerous game animals are bowhunted, including:
Polar Bear
Grizzly
Crocodile (Nile)
Elephant
Leopard
Lion
Hippo
Black Bear
The technical quality (sound, photography, etc) was good. I thought the editing could have been a bit tighter, but was acceptable.
In terms of the hunting, I found the DVD a mixed bag. It confirmed my dislike of hunting with dogs (polar bear) and my view on bowhunting elephants (the PH had to finish it off with a rifle). On the plus side, there was more spot-n-stalk than stand hunting.
There were some quite interesting bits, namely the crocodile hunting. For this game, they used a "super" bowfishing rig with a float to "track" the animal after the hit. Also the black bear hunting segment had a hair raising episode with a young (but still deadly) bear getting VERY close to the hunter on the ground.
The hippo hunt was a bit disappointing, with the hunter having to take several shots to finish it off...AFTER taking a VERY questionable shot at a hippo that was mostly underwater.
Overall, I give it a 3 out of 5
