I like it. It sounds truly inovative. In effect you get an excellent fixed blade knife, and gut hook and a bone saw, all in one neat, safe and well made package.
Of course there would be some small danger that this knife has some design faults as they are so new and untried, but Leatherman has an excellent reputation.
It might not be my first choice in a knife, but I'd own one with pride.

Hi Jason,
It looks like a good bit of kit and as Mick says Leatherman make top gear. Personally though I have never liked the idea of a folder for skinning and butchering, IMHO they are to hard to keep really clean after a messy job.
As I said mate, this is only my opinion, either way it does look like it would be a useful knife.

I want one!!!, but which one? The Ukiah and the Steens are very similar knives but made of different steel. What is the better steel, the s30v of the Steens or the 154cm of the Ukiah. Any info would help make my decision
Cheers Steve.
When I spent some time earlier in the year chewing Jindy's ear for knife info, he told me that s30v is pretty much top of the line steel and 154cm is also very good but with a slightly lower hardness.
Jindy's advice was if you can find and afford s30v, get it.
Jono.
i am trying to find a supplier in oz to get a price. they are $119 US so they are not that bad. i lost my Buck knife last hunt and was just going to get one of them but then i sore these for about the same money. i have a leatherman XTI and use it for work everyday and it is awsome that is why i was thinking of getting and trying one of these. Will let people know how i go with price and what they are like if i get one

Thanks Hefty, it looks like the Steens it is :D :D
Interceptor, you are right about these type of knives being hard to keep clean after a messy job, but if it keeps me out in the shed a little bit longer, well what can I say
Jason, Thanks for posting the knife, just what I`ve been looking for. Best price I have found is cabellas for $119.99US plus 20% postage/handling. Haven`t found one in oz yet but will keep looking.
Cheers Steve

If you are not worried about the cleaning issue (I agree 100% with interceptor on that) then you will be as happy as punch with the Leatherman. It is a good thing they put the sharpening steel right there in the handle so you can fix the edge, but really with S30V you wont have to do anything with the edge until you have taken that knife a few times around the block. The S30V has got just about the best edge holding ability of any knife steel out there, and you will soon find yourself trying to break your personal best on how many animals you can gut and quarter between sharpening sessions.
Now we are going to want pictures of it with the animals you dress with it :D
You love gadgets mate , I'd be worried about keeping it clean aswell . But the advantages of a multiuse tool could far outway any maintenance issues . regards Perry
fallowhunter i have leatherman australia getting back to me with a price i iwill post it when i get it
perry that is why i shoot a compound and not a stick like yourself is the gadget factor( and the fact i am a ***** shot with one)
FYI just got a price of $250 through http://www.zenimports.com.au/ they put me onto someone in brissy. could get it from the US for about $185 to your door so i think i will go down the US track.

Jason,
Just beware, if you bring the knife in yourself as sometimes knives will be confiscated by customs even though they are not a prohibited type. If you get the wrong lad looking at it, it may get held.
This has happened to a mate so beware.
