Gday guys, im going after pigs around the tamowrth area in the beginnign of January. This property is full of pigs but the property owner has told me they hav moved into mobs. I wasnt sure what he meant by this, whether it was that the boars have moved back with the females or the mobs are just still consisting of younger boars and piglets and sows. Can anyone please tell me what to expect as when i went in July, the boars were isolated from the small mobs, will i be expecting this again??
Cheers

I'm no expert but usually only the bigger boars are loners roaming around, but as the food and water resources drop off they move into bigger mobs, thats just what i have seen in the quirindi area anyway but there are always exceptions.
SG.
The best advice I can give Justin is just get out there and have a look! :D
Depending on the numbers, pigs around that country will most likely be in mobs nearly all their life. Excepting the big old Boars that come and go when there's a sow in season. Keep a sharp eye out real late in the arvo, thats when the big fella's come out. Again it depends on what sort of food is around and how much. If its real dry but cool they might be around in the middle of the day as well. If its stinking hot, which is Tamworth area all over, concentrate around water. They will lay up not far from any water so they can go for a dip and cool down. When I say not far, that could mean 1k or better.
Hope this helps and best of luck to you!

Gday scott and sparra,
Thanks for the advice guys. We should see pigs no doubt because last time we went there we saw over 100 pigs in just 2 mornign hunts. So its not a matter of finding the pigs, its a matter of finding the big boars because all we ran into were young boars, piglets and sows, occasionally seeign the lone boar bolt across the paddock without stopping for a split second.
And the country is very dry up there and stickign hot, so i guess it will be worth while looking around water sources.
Thanx again guys.
sounds like a top spot mate, have fun when you go.

Thanks rohan,
will post sum photos if we have any success. I dont really want to count my eggs before they hatch, if that makes sense.
