I was reading a sleeve from a CD cover from one of my favorite bands and was very surprised and dissapointed to find they are fervent P.E.T.A supporters. This has left me in a bit of a situation do I keep buying their CDs and indirectly supporting P.E.T.A or do take a stand and not buy their product? It has got me thinking what does hunting really mean to me and am I prepared to take a stand even though I truly enjoy their music.
What do you think and have any of you been in a similar situation?
PS I can live without their music.
just down load it from thw web and dont pay, then you can still have your music with out supporting PETA. :D :D

Yes no problem "System Of A Down" I have always enjoyed the heavier side of music  even at 45 yrs of age.
yep they are wiped now
What is the world coming to.
One of my favourite bands "Goldfinger" are strong supporters of PETA. I don't support PETA myself but apart from one or two songs (which i don't like anyway) that's not what their music is about so I still listen to it for the sound/style.
Admittedly, I probably wouldn't buy one of their albums if I knew the proceeds went to PETA.
Hefty.
:o I love System. Owell time to move on i guess ( there music doesnt seem to affect me as much anymore  )

Personally,
I think System of a Down are one of the better bands around at the moment.
They are not afraid of telling the world what they think, and better than that they have been holding the American Government (namely Bushy of course) to account. As opposed to the dribble that generally comes out of US mainstream, these guys have been telling it straight, warts and all.
So what if they support PETA. I (and I’m sure, the majority of subscribers to this forum) are all for the humane and fair treatment of animals. This is shown through the countless hours of effort we put in to ensure that we can harvest the intended game animal in the most humane way possible.
If you enjoy their music, then keep listening to it.
Just because you don’t agree with some of their personal opinions… Come on guys.
James,
I strongly suggest you go do a bit of reasearch on PETA.
You will find they are not so innocently for the humane treatment of animals as you might naively think.

I have read (a bit) about PETA. I was not, and never will (EVER) defend them.

About PETA
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is an extremist animal rights organisation based in the United States. According to PETA’s website the organisation has more than 800,000 members and total revenue of $29,309,246 US.
PETA is against the use of animals for food, clothing, entertainment and legitimate medical research.
PETA’s mission statement states categorically that “…animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment.” Consider the implications of this – no meat, no pets, nothing but synthetic clothes (most of which are petroleum based and far from environmentally friendly) and no medical research no matter how regulated or potentially life saving.
No room for reason
Based on this agenda, there simply is no room for compromise between PETA and the Australian wool industry – PETA’s stance is that animals should not be farmed, meat should not be consumed and wool should not be harvested or worn.
PETA's dark secret
Even though its mandate is to protect the rights of all animals, PETA spends less than one percent of its multi-million dollar budget actually helping animals. This begs the question: How much does PETA spend on advertising for homes for the animals they "rescue" - and subsequently kill?
In 2003 PETA killed over 85 percent of the animals it took in, finding adoptive homes for just 14 percent. By comparison, the Norfolk SPCA found adoptive homes for 73 percent of its animals and the Virginia Beach SPCA adopted out 66 percent.
Recently police in North Carolina charged two PETA employees with 62 felony counts of animal cruelty after dumping dead dogs and cats in a shopping centre garbage bin.
Investigators monitored the bin after discovering dead animals dumped there every Wednesday for four weeks. Upon apprehending the suspects, police allegedly found 18 dead dogs in the bin and 13 more in a van registered to PETA.
This activity and PETA’s persistent readiness to use euthanasia suggests that PETA promotes expenditure on the high profile celebrity style status of the organisation and its employees above the wellbeing of the animals it claim to protect.

Some more info on one of PETA’s sister organisations (that PETA supports generously in funding)
Anybody who supports PETA by donating funds is by default supporting this terrorist organisation

Animal Extremists Claim to Have Laced Juice with Poison- (12/21)
www.ussportsmen.org
Some juice is fortified with calcium or vitamin D, but animal rights fanatics claim to have added something else – poison.
The North American Animal Liberation Front Press Office distributed a message from the "animal rights militia" that claimed credit for putting toxins in POM Wonderful pomegranate juice. The animal rights terrorists claim 487 bottles of the drink along the Eastern seaboard were tainted to protest animal research.
The communiqué did not detail what was allegedly put in the juice, but claims it will cause diarrhea, vomiting and headaches.
POM recently refused demands by animal extremists to renounce animal research. As a result, activists have resorted to terrorist activities. Masked protestors have stalked employees at their homes, and threatened violence against their children. This alleged juice tampering is the latest terror tactic employed by the anti's to disrupt the business.
According to a statement issued by POM Wonderful, no evidence of any contamination has been found to date.
