good mork good to see you gettin rid of the mangi things
how long does it take for them to die after hit :?:
Good on ya Spikey get in to them it's good fun. they look as big as the ones i got.
Make shore you get them in quick so they don't spit there eggs out and dump the dead fish well away from the water.
Ronan: Only illegal in inland water ways. OK in dams and open waters. I think the same rules apply as to spear fishing.

woodstoka we had to reel them in alive and then wacked them with a club a couple of times on the back of the head to kill them. othe wise they flap around in the tub and scare the other fish.

Hi Guys, TMR and myself have started getting into the bowfishing a bit lately. I enjoy it more than shooting bunnies. Some days it can be just non stop action. I am using one of the new Barracudas made specifically for bowfishing, while troy is using a Hoyt with bottle and reel attached.
I have found the barracuda to be awesome. It is light, accurate and quick to draw.
Anyway heres a few pics.

Thats a good catch pitty carp taste yuck or you would of had a good feed or you like eating carp. That a cool looking bow, did you buy that here or over seas and Did you do it all off of land or in a canoe or boat
spikey :D
Hi Spikey, i got the bow from Alcock and pierce in Melb. I shot most of the carp from the land. Some i shot wading through the water. I am in the middle of setting up a small punt for bowfishing that will hopefully improve my catch. I dont eat carp but the goannas do so i leave them on the bank for them.

Cool :D
The photos at the start of this post are from Spikey and my first go at
bowfishing. The following are from a week later. We're getting better at it,
plus a bit of luck. I had one were the line and arrow parted company mid flight. :o The arrow went in through the back of the fish and came out through the head killing it instantly, allow me to get the arrow and fish back. Total for the day 7 carp 4 for dad 3 for Spikey.
Spikey with some of his catch. We always put rubber bands on one of our catches around the tails. This allows us to know whos are whos for the biggest fish. Normal father son rivalry

Some of my largest ones.

Nature doing a better job of getting rid of carp. This little puddle had about a foot of water the week before. That was all that was left of this back water.
Most of these fish were still alive in a big group. A week later this was the scene.

Gday ads,
Has anyone told u looked a bit like eric banner mate?? Freaked me out lol.
Good work on the fish mate.
How does the aiming work with bowfishing? Do u aim directly on the fish or a bit in front due to magnification in the water. ???

i think you have to aim abit befor the fish
Woodstoka's got it .You have to aim low to allow for refraction, when the fish is fully underwater. All of our fish had their backs out of the water so it's alot easier. :D

nice cap mate u did real well... :)
Great going guys, where do you go bowfishing?
Are you going on the club carp kull on the Oz holiday weekend?
I'll be bow fishing for Koi carp in new Zealand then.
Hood we were down Clayton way. There are lots of good areas with stacks of waterweeds? :? (plants in /under the water) You know what I mean.
You need a canoe to get to the areas but once there you can wade around in some. Others parts are about 4 ft deep.
You'll have to come down there with us one of these days. The canoe is a 16ft 3 seater so there is plenty of room. 2 to paddle 1 to stand up and shoot. Hope you have reasonable balance :)
As to the club carp cull, yes Spikey and I will be going.
Cheers Shalee
Hi Hoyt_Trykon, i use to get Eric Bana all the time but i havnt heard it for a while.
As for aiming it depends on how far away the fish is and how deep in the water it is. Generally the deeper the fish is in the water the further in front of it you have to aim.
