Brent, everyone will recommend a different bow. I advise you to buy one that suits your purposes and just feels right when you shoot it. Having said that, for the money, you don't need to look any further than the classifieds here:

Both of these bows offer excellent quality IMO. Why not save money and get a bow that is already set up plus arrows? New doesn't necessarily mean better than used- I wouldn't hesitate to buy either one.

Here's another quality bow for you Brent- d/l from 27" - 29.5" at a reasonable price, too.

the lazertec is an 06 model bow... the ones on the site are 07 models... just be careful and make sure your getting what u need because i have a mate that bought a bow of this site and under no fault but his own, got a bow with the drawlength about 3 inches too long... he cant use it....

like i said, make sure you know exactly what you need, and dont compromise it just cause theres one on the site!!!

make sure the one you get suits you right...

if you ask me, the lazertec is the way to go, theyre $660 (i checked today) and being new, we can make sure you get one that suits you!!!

Gday wazza,
um with ur mate who bought the bow of this site, it aint 3 inches too long, he can adjust the draw length on it. It was just SET at three inches too long and I have currently reduced the draw length for him. So buying a bow of this site aint a problem. U can pick up some really good buys.
And about the trykon, i currently shoot one and i aint looking to change it too soon because it is a sweet bow to shoot. If u get one u wont look back. I cant really talk for the vulcan but i hear it is supposed to be a good bow too. The only thing is, the trykon retails for $1250 and the vulcan for $1300 i think, im not to sure. And these are barebow. The powertec is a great bow to buy if your budget is around $900.

Brent,

For the price point you're looking at, you might want to contemplate buying a second hand quality bow (Mathews/Bowtech etc) rather than a new "second tier" bow.

Most importantly, you'll need to consider what type of bow you need (accurate vs fast, long axle to axle vs short axle to axle, etc). Once you've determined this, you should be able to pick up a 1 or 2 year old relevant model Mathews/Bowtech for between AU$600-$800.

Just a thought.
