Yesterday I went "proper" bowfishing for the first time. I did reasonably well and am now interested in buying a recurve.
In terms of specifics, I'm looking for shorter bow with a draw weight of 45-55lb @ 28 inches. Age and brand are irrelevant, provided it's in decent condition, but it must have a stabiliser thread (for the bowfishing rig).
More importantly, I'm not looking to spend a great deal of money ($0- $300 or so).
So, if you have an old recurve sitting in the closet (or know someone who has), drop me a PM.

Mate a brand new 2 to 300 buck samick would be perfect for it.
Old recurves sitting in cupboards could have hidden faults that you might not detect when you first look at them.
Also i found that 50# is a good weight.carp are quite tough if thats what your after.
try this link for samicks

Like Jeffro said I'd just spend the 240 odd bucks on a samick mind30 thats what I use and best part it is a takedown as well :D
Afternoon mr Goodwin.
I think a recurve is a top way to bow fish, I have used a couple in the past for shooting carp. A small 52 to 56incher would be pretty good. Can I suggest a bow with mostly glass limbs if not all glass. As all timber recurves I have used for bowfishing (they go swimming) have twisted from being wet and one even snapped.

These 2 would be perfect depending what draw weight you want

Going on Adam's experience and good advise, the first link that Clinglish posted looks spot on if only it wasn't a bit long, good price too. :D
