I have always used heat in the past, even a paint stripper heat gun will soften the epoxy up enough to get it out...Glenn...

You could try applying heat to the insert whilst holding it with a pair of pliers. This should soften the glue which might allow you to hook it out with a piece of wire.

Just a thought.

Best of luck.

Hot melt softens quickly with heat, Araldite takes longer, get the gas torch or candle happening, it is worth a try. Howie

Mate,
Been caught plenty of times. Get a small piece of wire and heat it until it glows red then push it up the insert and it will melt trough the glue, then just use a 5/32" tap to clean out the thread.

Also to stop it happening in future, only place the epoxy on the sides of the inserts when glueing them in, ie don't put the epoxy in the shaft then push in the insert.

Next time put a point in the insert before you install it.

To clean the threads now use a hot point or a hot wire and then Tap it as suggested above.

yer i was gonna say, that a heat gun probably wouldnt work as well as a gas torch or something, but i think the red hot wire and the tap would be the best thing...
