remember those wooden shafts that i was cresting a while back?
wll they are finished now and look ok for a first timer i think.
they have 130 grain ribteks with 4 inch feathers steering them.
gee feathers are hard to fletch compared to vanes, i had to fiddle around with the amount of twist to get good adhesion to the shaft but now i know for future fletching.
now all i have to do is sharpen the broadheads and practice, practice, practice and just maybe go hunting with it :)

with that amount of offset I am not surprised you had trouble with the fletching. I use five inch feathers and have less overall offset than that, and that is on 2514 shafts aswell. Feathers have a bit of a natural twist in them and I don't think you need so much offset to get the arrow spinning - then again I may be wrong as I don't shoot at targets so far away to really notice it. :)
They look mighty nice, too much work for the likes of me though.

yeah they were a bit of a pain to fletch but they should fly good :D

Rohan , good effort mate . You mentionioned that feathers are harder to put on than vanes . Vanes are much more flexible , I have found that commercially available feathers are too stiff in the quill , the manufacturers tend to leave too much of the white pith . I put the fletch in a fletching clamp or between 2 pieces of wood and carefully sand the base of the fletch untill it is only a 1/2 millimeter thick or so . Its fidly but makes a big differance to gluing big offsetts .
Try gateway fletches they tend to be a higher quality feather allround and the majority have nice thin quills . regards Perry
