The old rule of the thumb says that for every inch of draw length, over or under the stated draw weight at the given draw length written on the bow, you should either add or subtract 3 lbs per inch. If you want an accurate figure, you will need to use a bow scale and actually measure it.

Using this method, your 55# @ 28 inch bow would have a draw weight of about 49# @ 26 inches.

I don't know anything about aluminium shafts, but if you were looking at buying some wooden shafts for this bow, I would start off by buying some spined for 40 to 45# @ 28 inches. They would probably work OK at your draw length if you're going to use 125 grain points. It really just comes down to trial and error. If you're lucky your arrows will fly great the first time, if you're a bit stiff, they won't.

Internatures are top value for the money . I have one that some years ago I shortened up 2 inches and converted into a sleeve and socket sytem takedown . It has always been a good bow to shoot .
At your drawlenth 23/15's would shoot out of a 65ish pound bow , if you wish to use alloys 19/16's might shoot well out 47 -48 pound Id guess you would be drawing and still offer reasonable mass weight for target and hunting .
Look around and get some of the tapered or barrelled timber shafts available now you will be surprised at how well they shoot . Carbons are worth looking into as well but they need massweight inserts so the bow is not compromised by shooting a too light arrow . regards Perry
