View Full Version : Protective clothing
Im talking about Protective clothing to Minimise the risk of been bitten by a Snake. What do you guys use? If anything? Home made /store bought Leather/synthetic Guards/Chaps? Was just looking up some Interesting Points on Australian Snakes and First aid and things like that, Made me wonder why I never even thought about wearing protection... I have a good pair of boots and a pair of Holeproof Explorer socks on but the Light weight camos Im wearing would to a poor job at stopping anything from biting my legs.
Think of it like this. How often do you step in dog ****?
Its not like you meant to leap into it, Thats an easy fix though. But what if it was a snake?
What are your opinions?
I wear stoney creek gaters over my boots, long socks and camo pants.
The thing to remember is that australian snakes whilst they have deadly venom have pretty lousy teeth. Snakes live on rodents and small animals, and they are built with this purpose in mind.
A few extra layers is often enough to stop them effecting a dangerous bite, you dont need armour plated gaters, just a little extra bulk to improve the safety margin a bit IMO.

I am a bit slack when it comes to snakes, I have a kit in my bag always, but if I am hunting not far from civilisation I don't go much on the protective clothing :D
