View Full Version : WB and blazers... arrow swing???
Just got off the phone to Rob Donnelly of Casino Archery Supplies whom I got my Drenalin off... he has calmed me down
Who's experienced this....? Whisker Biscuit, Blazers, Mathews bow (which basically has inbuilt 3/4 left tear)...
The bow/arrows group, I am the only thing that determines how well that goes  But at 30m my arrows show a definate arse movement to the right. Broadheads (Blackstumps/Montecs) don't do any worse really, but it still ****s me. :?
I've had 2 other experienced shooters shoot it, and they get identical results.
Anyhow, Rob said he has exactly the same thing, he just ignores it, and like me the thing still shoots well.
I am going to try a few things and try and get rid of it, as I have trouble simply ignoring it, so just thought I'd see if others have the same thing happen :)
Rory,
I have an XT with a WB and Blazers (3x 2 inch helical) and have not had an issue. I shoot a WS QS Deluxe.
I noticed the Deluxe has a better mounting system the the standard or Drop Tine.
That's my experience anyway.
:)
I too use the Deluxe WB

rory,
I shoot 4-2" blazers out of my Q2 wb and I havent noticed anything like that at all. I also shoot a right helical on my blazers.

queer hey :?
I am going to give some 4" vanes a better go, also maybe some low profiles.

3 or 4 Blazers Rory ? ??
To me that's the big defence....either that or the Turbo is spooling up late and kicking in at 28m and thrusting the arrow to the right causing a left tail swing.
Also remember the energy a Mathews Cam generates truly pushes the spine of arrows allot further than softer cams will, its the only time I have had real steerage Problems is with the arrows trying to catch them selves up. try a few different arrows up down spine etc( Safely) .
Also check you have right size Biscuit for arrows that can be a huge influence on your arrows flight.
Having said all that I haven't as yet tuned a Dren so I could well be blowing smoke out me butt, but most Mathews tune with a very similar twist every time.
This might seems stupid to some but try changing your nocks too ! I went Spare once trying to tune a bow and it was the stinking GT lock nocks !!
try moving your biskit to the right or as Willy said have a go with a few different weighted arrows
4x2" Blazers...
I'm going to try some other vanes, I don't think I was getting this prior to the Blazers.

Rory, you'll get SUPER accurate and detailed responses to your questions (as they have been asked many times before) on the Mathews website: http://forums.mathewsinc.com/ Check it out if you haven't already done so. In some cases, left tear can be eliminated by half to a couple of twists in one side of the yolk, when all other factors have been ruled out. Worked for me. Don't go ripping off your Blazers just yet, IMO.

mate stick with the blazers and the whisker biscuit.
3 or 4 blazers work well on all broadheads,i prefer the 4 vanes, thats just me :)
the blazers are best suited to the whisker biscuit as they are stiffer, wider, which in turn will mean they wont crinkle like most softer flights and will recover much quicker.
u will have no worries having them helical despite what rabid keen or what ever the new name is.
id prefer to quote what i know then what others tell me
as for the left tear, follow norms advice, there is so much info on the mathews website ,its no big deal..couple twist on one side of yoke will fix it if thats the problem.
i always follow the tuning procedure from www.eastons.com
im on my 4th mathews bow and will soon have my 5th the new drenilin :)
best of luck ull be right :)
pat :)
I have been on the Mathews site  is a good spot :)
So my wobbly arrow flight is the result of the left tear? Will say twisting the yolk (of which I've never done before) get rid of the tear, thus ridding the arrow wobble crap :?:
thanks for the responses guys :D

Ive found that the majority of Mathews shooters complain of a left tear(As do I!!)
You could do as a lot of good archers do, and give up worrying about it. Walk Back Tune. That will fix the problem quite often.Or you'll be super accurate but still with the tear.

I started to walk back tune, but this flight is pissing me off :x

Yeah, Try to tune your yolk. Straight idler at full draw.
If thats difficult, try setting it to spec. Is it 9 twists on left and 12 on the right?( I think) and work from there. I set my Switchback exactly to spec, then walk back tuned. It made a difference, but the left tear is still there.
I think ,until I can afford a Conquest Apex, it always will be :D :D
