How about a new to the sport section,

Anyone entering the sport of bowhunting can go in there and get information that we all agree is correct, like what animals you can and can't hunt in australia, the gerenal procedures in taking game and practise etc, what ethics a bowhunter should hold etc etc etc.

Great Idea Adam.

I for one am for educating people on what animals are legal and illegal to shoot and I know that it can change from state to state.

As I so kindly pointed out to a well seasoned bow hunter recently, in regard to bow fishing carp even know it is illegal in most other states that I am aware of, it is perfectly legal here in SA.

So even for the seasoned hunter it can still be a learning game, I know that I'm still learning myself.

Adam,
A good idea, and if I may offer a suggestion, include links to the government web sites that offer that sort of information.

I have a few to start it for Victoria.

If we are offering advice to people new to the sport it is important that its the official correct cross the tee's and dot the I's version. :D

It's a shame that the ABA bowhunters education manual cant be an online resource for education of new comers.

I know that the manual is written for the benifit of it's members, but any newcomer that breaks the law doesnt have to be an ABA member to hurt ALL bowhunting in this country.

It would certainly help me...while I'm not really a newbie to hunting I'm still fresh off the boat so to speak...and the laws are confusing...the other day I went to bunnings for some netting for the kids guinea pig cage and mistakenly asked for netting for a rabbit cage...the shop dude was apoplectic....rabbits in queensland...calll the cops...

Well i hadn't read this thread yet, but i came to this section of the forum to suggest a thread for newbies (looks like great minds think alike hey Ads ;)) ... So what do you think admin? Specificaly have a newbies section in the bowhunting area of the main page. Things like bow selection and poundage, brief outline of arrow spine, how broadheads work and how to sharpen and just tips for people wishing to start bowhunting.
Lets be pro-active with this and educate future hunters to start them on the right track. Hell, i remember my first bowhunt, about a week later someone told me about broadheads!!! (yes, i was hunting with field points  but i knew no better) So lets try to head off a potential mistake by a newbie by educating them before they even go for a hunt.

just my opinion

Cheers, Cam

the reason I joined this forum was after reading the standard of info given already by the "old-timers", would be great to have a newbies section.
