Reserve it, putting the serving through the string before you finish off.

I would just serve a short section enough to cover the damaged section have done it plenty of times never had a problem.

Looks like the same problem I had with my XT when I first got it. I just had it reserved at the local archery shop and havent had any more trouble yet.

G'day Rory, welcome to the Mathews sus-serving club! You are member #9983008765.
Have it re-served and coated with Liquid Lok, or bite the bullet, as I and many other anti-Barracuda people have done, and buy yourself a high quality after-market string and cable. Bling Strings are recommended, as are Winners' Choice.
NOTE: Many find absolutely no problem with the factory Mathews strings, it seems to be the luck of the draw.

Just remembered this link: http://www.lawleroutdoors.com/Movies/HuntingFishingMovies.asp?Photos=Bow%20Repair&pg=1 Watch the low resolution version of the cable and string reserve video to get an idea of how the job is done properly.

Rory ! my XT has been like that since the first week out the Box, its become SOP since the Outback and even some of the LXs had the Drama, as yet have not seen a failure due to this.

Don't let it scramble your Roar keep huntin..... then later on buy a Winners Choice or have been told the Blings Strings are good gear too.

I never worried about fixing this type of thing when shooting compounds, shot a tec series hoyt with slip around the wheels for 11 months, no worries.

I'm with Adam... a small slip isn't the end of the string. ;)

Yeh it should not be a prob mate. We have a few fella's here that have the same thing happen and they are still shooting fine and the bow performs well. When the string fibres start to fray and stick out all over the place its time to change.

The bottom pic.is not a worry, you could serve over the separation with dental floss, as a short term fix. The top pic. would worry me, because the serving will probably break there, and unwind at a inappropriate time....
