Lurch, I have always shot with a hair trigger on my releases :? , but I shot 3D with Brad Murphy at Ravensbourne the other week & talking about releases etc. he shoots with a heavy trigger, if not using a full back tension release aid. Brad is the current 3DAAA Shooter of the Year for MBR (pins & release aid) and seemed quite open and knowledgeable in discussion, so I am mucking around with my setup tomorrow.
PS he flogged me so I have to try something :D
Cheers
Ken :D
My wife reckons mine has a hair trigger. LOL Jokes aside, do what feels good and works for you. I personally like a softer trigger, I dont want to apply much pressure/tension to the release aid to set the arrow off.
well i used to shoot with out one then i got one an practised i got better and better it was a hard trigger now i have a hair trigger my accuracy has improved immensley lol :D i have extensively shot rifles winning adfc nationals and getting a few medals and have learnt when shooting with a hard trigger you have to apply extensive pressure and when doing so you jerk your fire arm and become inacurate this mate be the same?? does any body know?? :?

Its a bit different shooting a bow, a hair trigger can lead to target panic. ie; flinching, drive by shooting, not being able to put the pin on the target etc., the idea of a heavy trigger, is to give you a surprise release, ie; concentrating on keeping the pin on target, not on your finger on the trigger, pulling back with your elbow, or back tension until the shot goes off.
