i do not wish to open the political box...my eyes are no longer what they were and i wish to continue to hunt with my son and thought this may be and alternative.

I have no problem with it but I do have question.
As I see it if you set up a red dot laser it will only be good for one yardage just like a sight pin. What if the game your hunting is a bit closer or further away than what the red dot is set for???

Skinny, I'm pretty sure Zeiss makes one but i'm sure it wouldn't be cheap.
Im sure there should be someting about it on their website, but I have never used one though sorry
You can get red dot laser sights that are able to be "dialed" in.
I believe (from a foggy memory) that when yo set them up you mark the distance increments on a dial type thingy. When used in conjunction with a set of pin sights you just make the pin line up with the dot and triangulation = death ;)
Say a pig is at 20m's, you dial you laser to 20m and make your 20 pin line up wiht the red dot you see on the pig and presto bacon for dinner ;)
I've never used one and only read a bit about them a while ago now.
I hope that helps some mate.
Oh, and, welcome aboard! :P

thanks guys,
sounds complicated to me.
Not so much mate, do a google search and you should come up with some US sites that have good info for you.
It's a concept that's never really taken off here.

A guy at my club is into those sort of sights.
He has one that can be set up on a sliding sight arm like the single pin slider hunting sights and it works great but adds a bit of weight to the bow.
there are ones that you need to line up a lazer dot in a circle on the front lens then there are the ones that just have a single dot that is just placed on the spot your aiming for and hey presto let it fly.
Not sure of the make or model but will see if I can find out for you when I see him next.
i have done some google searches so far.
please if you can find out some info for me hood and see if he will give you a contact number so i can have a chin wag with him mate.
cheers

I have seen laser sights on eBay for quite cheap (less than $20) although the quality is probably relative to how much you spend.
You could probably buy a cheapie to improvise your own setup just to give it a try. Also, if your sight is not so good, you would have trouble seeing the red dot on your target in the daytime.
Laser sights are generally designed for low light situations (for firearms anyhow).
