I see a few of the lads are having good success with around 20percent foc.

What Foc are you using with success.

What arrow, broadhead, feather combination.

what else if anything are you doing to achieve that foc(weights etc.

Im currently shooting around hunting carbons at 37percent and hunting woods at 32 percent.

I want to achieve a bigger foc and Im chasing materials and ideas as I type.

Look forward to reading what other Traditional hunters are using to achieve there foc and at what percent they are having success.

Mate how do they fly with 37% and 32% FOC.
I'm shooting gt traditionals 75/95 using 5" shield cut feathers, 125gn broadhead and an additional 120gns of weight behind the insert.
My FOC is 20%

Cheers

They shoot fine mate but I think I could get better penatration from something like in the twentys. I'd also go with a stiffer carbon so I can get more weight out of a factory shaft.

Outta the Wallace atm I'm using 29.5" 2219's, 3x5" Sheild Cut feathers, and a 150 grain head. Shoots well with a foc of about 20% 8)

That what I did Adam went for a heavier shaft them added weight to the front to reduce the spine and give greater FOC.

I use basic gold tip hunters 75/95's with a 2gpi straw tubing, 3 x sheild cut feathers, 100gr brass insert, 100gr steel broadhead adaptor, 190gr tusker concord :D gives me 22% foc with atotal mass of 740gr

I am shooting a 55 pound at 27 inch curve, gold tip 55/75 with fly screen tubing, 125 grain broadhead and 125 grain steel adaptor. I also add 100 grains behind the insert. I am still fine tuning this set up. The FOC is only a few inches behind the broadhead, but the penetrate well. Got more tinkering to do. Howie

I've been using 20 to 25% foc for a number of years and am very happy with my arrow flight and penetration . Look up Ed Ashby's arrow penetration study , he likes a FOC in excess of 20% for boosting hunting arrow performance on big game . regards Perry

Thanks for all the replies lads. Howie what percentage of the arrow would you say is the balancing point.

sorry for the stupid question - but what is a foc? something about the balance of an arrow?? :?

apologies for my ignorance.

Forward of Center foc.

So say 15 percent foc mate would mean your arrow is at balancing 15 percent along the shaft.

Adam, Walked outside tonight to my trophy room to measure the FOC, stepped on a cat head, (burr), pulled it out of my foot, turned on the light switch and the globe was blown, went to the car to get my torch and stepped on another cat head. Gave up and came back inside. Will have a look tomorrow in the daylight with thongs on. What we bowhunters do for each other, LOL Howie
