Hi,
just wondering if anyone can give me advice on where vanes or feathers should be placed from the nock end of the arrow. Does it help having the flights further down the shaft or closer to the nock. I am using a martin fletching jig. I use Carbon Express Rebels and 4" Vanes. I shoot a Drenalin with a release aid.
Cheers....................Sparrow
Hey Sparra there was talk about this awhile back when I posted some photos of crested arrows, I think Glenn Newell commented on the feathers being only an inch from the back of the nock. The arrows flew good in that instance but I do believe closer to 2 inchs in orthodox :?: can’t help much more then that, there must be someone out there that knows a bit better about preferred placement.

Hmmm interesting. I dont think my 2" blazers are even an inch from the nock, and they fly out of my XT fine.

1" from the nock throat is a good distance.
The further back a fletch is, the more leverage (in theory) it would impart. But too far back, and it becomes impractical.I dont think you could measure the difference without an engineering degree anyway. :D

Sparra,Sparrow,Sparra_gump...mmmmmm..popular name..   I have always placed them just far enough forward so my fingers don't touch them when I am shooting with fingers...
