I'm just getting into bowhunting recently and ive been hearing about different diseases in hunted species.

Could anyone tell me how to identify rabbits? deer? and goats with diseases or worms?

What can i do to avoid catching any diseases from animals that i am hunting for eating purposes?

any info or links will be helpfull

Hey mate from what i know the way you cant tell rabbits have Mixomatosus (dont know if i spelt it right) is that they have poor vision and in a lot of cases the have pus oozing from their eyes. If you want some links just google Mixomatosus and you should have some answers. Here is a rabbit that i took a photo of with mixo. you can see that it's eyes are swollen. http://i168.photobucket.com/albums/u173/TommyGooderz/photos016.jpg

If the game you are taking for a feed all come from Victoria then you don’t have to worry much about diseases from the eating of game. You can catch Q fever from goats and leptospirosis from pigs but if you make an effort to keep yourself and your meat clean then you will be at little risk.

Here is a good link for you

The worms that can be found in wild game are generaly specific to those animals and the chances of you catching them are about the same as getting hit by a bus.
