Well the last time I was here a was very lucky, two nice foxes hit the deck, and the ever healing leg had just taken the training wheels off, now some months after and some 200 hundred km’s on since then, it seamed like a walk in the park today.
Had about 5 attempts at whistling but the wind really was terrible and I didn’t see anything, until I have made it some 3km down the river and turned around the bend for the afternoon walk home with the wind in my face this time.
The results where immediately, except for my bad positioning I might have nailed the first fox of the afternoon noon, as he came in to no less than 10 metres. I know that I should have sat on the other side of the bush), in the shade (The little voice said that would have been a better thing to do) but no I sat right on the side that had all the bunt sticks, and other obstacles in my way that in the end he was that close he saw me and I couldn’t get a clear shot, (fool the voice said) I thought to myself you know better, so I get up and moved from out of the enclosed tangle of cover I had not so cleverly chosen, and just stood there for a few seconds, and then the voice again (well what else might coming?) oh yeah, well you better take another look around before you take off! Almost mistake number two, as I turned my head to the right I could see another fox making his way down the ridgeline toward me, as he went behind a green tree at about 13 metres, I quickly knelt down and drew all in one motion aimed in the bushes direction waiting for him to emerge, as he emerged from other side looking for the squealing rabbit that now had cessed some time ago, I aligned my first pin on his big white chest as he looked down the bank searching for his evening meal, I didn’t see CarbonTech Rhino fly at that range but the loud thump and it knocking him backwards and down and out instantly was obvious!

Again I should have known better just to get up and walk out just because you missed out on one fox sometimes there always could be another coming in, (the voice saying you jagged that one!) but I’ll say lucky twit, I muttered under my breath.
It was getting late and the bunnies had started to emerge and to the do their bunny type things, and boy the saying the wheel has fallen off, defiantly applied here, about a dozen shots later at ranges from 40 to 15 metres and I didn’t even hit one, gee what happened, as the voice in my head was saying (give ya self an upper cut man!) again I had to slow the whole aiming process down, as I think I was a little type hyped up from the state you get into trying to spot an fox coming into the whistle, before he gets to close, and I defiantly was affecting my shooting, and the back seat driver hurling abuse wasn’t helping much either!
As I stopped over another creek, over looking some patches of blackberry, I took to my knees and got set and anticipated that a fox should come from either the tee tree line to my left, or the black berry’s in font of me, as I was setup for this angle this would allow my enough cover and still hold good form to enable a good shot, well 3 blasts on the whistle and a fox is coming from my far right and down from the open hillside straight to my position and I don’t have enough time to adjust with out being seen so I cannot move, so what do I do, of course I draw and aim and twist my body and start to aim across myself and getting all crossed up (this is not going work, you will shoot like crap doing this the little voice in my head said!) I hadn’t listened to him all afternoon so why start listening to the smart arse now, well some two seconds later you guess it I totally missed this guy at some 3 metres, its true you never know where the little red devils will come from but I do know this if you cross your self up that much you can guarantee that you can miss anything at that range!
Still I managed to take a nice fox and I will boil this fella out over the next few days as seen what he scores, and I will up date you all later when I know, and try drown this little voice in my head with a stiff drink I think! :D
