I see there are a few of you out there that have Game cameras for scouting. When I received mine from the U.S a few weeks ago, I thought that I must have a lot of faith in my fellow man to be placing my $300 cameras onto trees with just a bungee cord. Then I snapped out of it and realized I don't, and that I should come up with some sort of security device.
Here is what I came up with.

It is made from 5mm x 50mm flat plate that has been bent to the right depth to secure the top and bottom of the camera, two shorter pieces bent the same were welded to the side to stop sideways movement, now the camera cannot move from the cradle up, down or sideways.
To stop some lowlife from removing the camera from the front, I drilled some larger holes and filed them until they would accept the 15mm. retaining bar. This bar has a plate welded onto one end to stop it from sliding thru' and drilled on the other to accept a padlock to stop it from withdrawing.
On the main upright I drilled a couple of holes big enough to take the same coach bolts that I use with my removable treestand pegs, they are 13mm x 75mm.
I screw this mount to the tree in the appropriate position, mount the camera and walk away with the security of knowing that it will stop a semi honest thief from borrowing it.
Here is a photo of the mounted camera.

mate,no offence what so ever..

great looking mount,very nice work..

i reckon if they couldnt take it ,they would just smash it

its a bloody shame we have to resort to this stuff, same for tree stands

my last one got done in a fire..got the sd card back ok,and i think the battery is ok,thats why i only buy the cheaper moultries for a 100 bucks

Looks good dale but how deep are those screws into the tree? if someone really wanted it it looks asif they could rip the screws out the tree with a bar. Maybe a chain with a lock around the tree as well would do it? I'm thinking about setting one up on a fallow block myself.

hey i see that u are using roofing screws how long are they, beacause you can buy 125mm long ones we use them at work, A liittle bit better becasue they wouldnt be able to rip it out of the tree as easy.

Just a suggestion but if they really wanted it they could take it.

its pretty bad that we have to resort to things like that these days

I have thought of using a chain and lock Macka, the problem is it will add to much crap to it to carry into the bush. Gooderz, the screws in the photo are for illustrative purposes only, when I attach it in the bush I use 75mm. long with 13mm head bolts that are screwed in with a socket ratchet, you will not pull these out of the tree without damaging the camera  .

Here is a photo from one of my cameras last week, it is set up on a scrape that I tree stand hunted out of last year, I never saw this deer through the day and without the camera, would never know he is about, we guess he would score above 220 D.P. 8) .

I will be back to look for him!
