G'Day Folks,

I have recently taken up archery and really really enjoy it. I have wanted to go bowhunting for ages now but have nowhere to hunt. I live just outside of Maitland - Newcaslte, and know no one at all with a property or private land i could hunt on. i have read about the "R" Licence and thought about getting that so i would be able to hunt on state forests, but as i have never been hunting in my life i wouldnt know a thing about hunting or what to do.
Just looking for anyone generous enough to allow me to have a shoot on their property and teach me a thing or two about hunting - am willing to pay fees. or, if anyone could give me some tips about hunting and where to go??

Thank You All,
Regards Scotty :)

The easiest way to find out more about hunting and whats needed is to find your local archery club and join up and practice practic and practice some more and get talking to the other more experienced hunters there.
Who knows they may just offer to take you out.
And just because you don't know anyone with a property for you to hunt on doesnt' mean that you can't find one yourself as many of us have done before.
All you have to do is find an area that you want to hunt and you think will have some game on it, be it rabbits or deer. Then get dressed in everyday respectable cloths and start door knocking the local farms. Speak nicely and show that your not just another hillbilly red neck hunter and explain that you are interested in helping to rid this great nationof ferals and you never know what may come of it.
Yes you will get knocked back a lot but you may just score a great property straight up.
Be sure to tell the property owners that you hunt with bow only and there will be no guns or dogs used. That goes a long way.

You can make it known to your friend and work mates that you r looking and they may just know someone thats got a property.

Hope this helps.
Good luck.

In conversation tell everyone you know that you hunt with the bow and arrow, I do and it is surprising how many people know other bowhunters or farmers. I have been doing it for decades. I always mention fishing and camping as well. Howie
