View Full Version : What have you SCABBED
Anyone found any cool stuff lately or in the past?Did you take it?
There is a section about this on ozbow so i thought id start one here.
Tell us about your scabbing exploits.
I'm always scabbing free meals at mum and dads. But then again who doesn't
I found a shed fallow antler last week and brought it home. It will make a good bow rack for the chek-mate when i mount it on some natural timber. not as good as a shoulder mount buck would have, but beggars can't be choosers.
Oh yeah, and i didn't have enough salt when i shot my fox, so the farmer let me use a lot from a bag of stock salt. So i suppose i scabbed that.
I also got the filling for my target for free, out of the rubbish of the two local agri-businesses (and the slightly damaged wool-pack to put it in.)

You've got to be careful with those things!

puk i have used it once and cut myself. its not sharp enuff to shave anything but your arm so when i get a strop ill try and use it in sted of a normal razor
A mates wife is a hairdresser who used to use straight razors,
her advice was to blow up a balloon, put shaving creme on it and shave the balloon to practice, messy but better than "gunston-ing" yourself

I was also offered a small colour tvas the buttons on it were not working/broken. $4 later and about 30min and we had new tv for the bedroom :D
And then there was the BMW that I was told if I could get it going I could have it. Got it going but we all now how that ended don't we.

I have scabbed heaps from lengths of steel, and timber to chainsaws and a welder once ,Most of the stuff was in need of a small repair or just some knowledge to get going or to use.
The latest Have been about $1500 worth of curtains
A Zodiac inflatable tender worth about $255US new It will cost about $100 to repair
And a rooftop camper That needs a new matress and a patch on the canvas as well as part of the frame is broken .I reckon maybe $50 to repair.
I love being a scab ,It means stuff that might end up as waste will get used .

Do not see them lying out side the pubs here for to long anymore. Told by a mate who runs a pub, that they have to pay a lease on them as well. Should be finished next time home, will post pics like i said. Might be able to inprove from what i have done.
