I have put this up for anyone interested. The course is run by ADA QLD at Ballendean Station. I would highly recommend this course to new & old hunters. I have been to this course a number of times walking away with some great extra knowledge every time. Not to mention it is a great social event & you will meet some pretty good people as well. If you have never been to Ballendean Station, it will amaze you of the quality of the Fallow heard there. The Education course is also recognized for the NSW "R" licence, wich is a bonus as well. As the "G" licence is only for private land & the "R" licence for public land. The "R" licence covers you for both. Like i say, can not recommend the course enough.

I checked out the web site and under course content it seems to only cater for firearms. Thus my question is the course and R Licence only covering firearms and not bow hunting?

Poppy, to answer you. Ballendean Station is Firearms ONLY. So there will be a lean towards the firearms more so than bows.
But the course is not based around what you use to hunt with, it's more to do with the education & better understanding of deer & bush skills. Check the link out mate & it will give you all you need to know. Like i said it's a real good weekend spent with like minded people & a good social event as well. You will be surprised the amount of stuff brought up at these weekends.

Good onya Paul,
You will not be dissapointed at all mate. Also rang one of the co-ordinators of it today, a mate of mine. He also said for the R licence you can nominate for the weapon as well, be it Bow, rifle or dog licence. You can also have a combination as well. Just means more queastions to answer.

See you all there,

It's on the 5th thru to the 7th May at Ballendean Station.
Cost is $120 for ADA members & 160 for non members.
This covers all your food & drinks (NOT ALCOHOL) & any litrature & pay some of the guest speakers for the weekend. Take extra cash as heaps of blokes turn up trying to sell all sorts of gear as well. Not to mention the ALCOHOL.

Mate get on the site it will give you a heap more info.

Well got back late last night from course. Meet up with Poppy & Owen F from here, great blokes to have a talk & yarn with. The weekend was very enjoyable & it was great to see a few Bowhunters there as well. Could not have asked for better weather down in that country for the start of winter. It was good to see a lot of younger people at the course as well as a few of the ladies. Even the ladies were hands on with the dressing of some Fallow on the weekend. I am sure everyone who attended course had a great time & walked away with something from it. If you get the chance to go to one of these courses it's a great time, educationally, socially & just a good weekend away. Look up your local ADA for courses in your area, they are held in a few different parts of the country.

Great time and well recommended for those with little experience like myself. I learnt a lot with the caping demo by Marcus a highlight for me as it provided a lot of info that you just can't get from a book.

Good to meet Grunter and Poppy and put faces to names. Look forward to chatting with you guys again.

Next year should be even better as i have asked to do a section for Bowhunting primarily as there is such a growth in our sport. There are a lot of people who would be interested in that side. Hope to see a few more people there from the Bowhunting comminity next year. It is a great weekend & i am sure if you have hunted for 5 mins or 50 years you will allways learn something new.
