Well the new Carbon Express Buff Tuff Heritage 350s arrived last week. With 3 dozen to play with I began to trial a few different focs. The end result is around 23 to 25% forward of center. I have 275grains up front and these arrows fly like darts.

Now to tune the bow, since the last time I tuned this bow I have added a side mount bow quiver, limb skins, Tip protector and new string(thanks Jeffro). So this bow would be well out of tune if I continued on.

First I shot off 6 arrows to make sure the bow was grouping, yep no worries. And seems very quiet and feels good so the brace height can stay were it is.

I bare shafting using the combination arrow I was to shoot this year(field point only). The arrows were dramatically sideways in the target(nock left) under spined arrows. so I cut 15mm of the arrows till the arrow was in target dead straight, even cutting 5 mm off at a time once close. Spot on with better penetration on the target.

Now the arrow just needed to be a little more up in the back, so I adjusted the nocking point till it was spot on. yep sweet.

Now some arrows with feathers, darn to easy. Just wrote down all the specs so If ever a new string goes on(will shoot another in) I'll be right.

Must say I have never shot better.

How far from the target were you Adam?
And are you still using the 5 feathers?

How far for what mate, for the bare shafting.

5 10 and 15 meters with same result.

Done a little more tonight with some tubing that was given to me from a member. They also shot very well, not sure on foc or weight yet but will post it up when finished.

Adam I am using my bob lee bow at the moment and I think I have the arrow rest set up good but the arrows fly sideways in the tail for the first 10 metres or so.The same arrows used in my old bow fly straight and the bows are the same poundage according to the specs of them.
This bow is 2 inches shorter than the other one at 60"The arrows are poc but not matched I dont have a spine jig.
It sounds like a bit of hassle to do what youve said with wood arrows cause to cut a bit off means regluing the tip or nock then waiting till its dry.
I might have to start using some carbons someday :?

Jeffro, with the woods just push the field point on tight, if needed just a touch of super glue to hold in place, the head will still come off if need to cut it down some more.

The othe rbow most likely has more push through a better limb design or material, and not too sure but guessing the 2 inch difference could also make a difference.

oh, make sure your using a target that the point can be retrieved from easy because they are likely to come loose in the target, I do the same with carbons till I get the length right.

Thanks Adam, What tool do you cut your carbons with?

Have a 7inch angle grinder with a high speed 1mm thick metal cutting blade. Once I got my length figured out I taped 3 dozen shafts together tightly were the cut was to be made, presto 3 dozen shafts ready for inserts.

Must be high speed cutter and thin blade otherwise will splitter shafts.

Adam:
That blade on your grinder should also fit a table saw making it easier to get square cuts if you have one.

Do you have access to the steel broadhead adapters and brass inserts over there? They make it easy to get heavy point weight, and let you use any glue on head. I have been using these for years and the High to extreme FOC is definately a good thing.
There is a new head about to launch from Canada this spring just for those of us that like heavy point weights, 300 gr, solid 1 piece 3 blade, 3 to 1 ratio, in moulded stainless steel . Perhaps it will be available down under also.
