Okay here's my contribution.
1. Find a building site that is using 2" thick polystyrene to clad the walls prior to rendering.( It seems to be all the rage down here in Vic. Cheaper than laying a brick wall.)
2.Ask the builder for the off cuts .It's amazing what gets thrown out. I make shaw that I have a single piece for the back and front of the block.
3.Buy a tube of liquid nails from the hardware store and glue all the pieces you gathered together.
Don't use silicone it will melt the polystyrene.
I have found that the thicker you make the block the better.
PRO'S
Cheap to make
CON'S
Will get pass thoughs if you shoot the same spot a dozen or so times
Gets messy and leaves small bits of poly all over the place when it starts to brake up.
I shoot 70 pound compound bow with b/hs and if shot in a fresh area don't get pass thoughs if the block is around 400mm thick.
