getting tested

just spent the past week with my girlfriend in intensive care after she found out that she had diabetes a bit too late, and came close to dying.
all is well with her now but if you havnt had a diabetes test, its only a little prick and could save your life so go and get tested

Diabetes, the silent killer. I unfortunatly know too many people whos lives have been affected by it badly.

wishing her a speedy recovery from the close call. Now you know things can be managed safely - listen to the advise you get. Not many things can be more scary.

I had a mate nearly die a few years back the same way, fit as hell and collapsed while jogging.

I see the damage from diabetes every day - about half my patients actually. The general feel in the medical profession is that diabetes will soon overtake all others as the number one killer in Australia. Being slim and fit doesn't mean you are safe, but it does put you in the low risk group, always worth getting checked out as Mozza says.

My father and grandfather both have diabetes, so I have to be careful with my health as well, touch wood sofar I have not had any sign of it and hope that I never do.

Glad to hear that your Lady has come good mate. I only got tested last Thursday, I was a little worried as my Mum and Dad are/were both Diabetic. I am all good for now.
