View Full Version : Sunday Mornings
Gotta love sunday mornings with the family.
Up early(can't stand sleeping in) get out the back for 50 plus shots from the recurve, My son Hunter gets up and does his usual press every button on the computer. The wife gets a bit of a sleep in, then gets up(to us boys making heaps of noise) and makes pancakes with fresh strawberrys, bannana, touch of sugar, syrip, and whip cream mmmm. Love sundays.
Whats your sundays hold(and don't say hunting, cause Im not  )
A great Sunday to all.

Sounds very similar to my Sundays as well Adam. Although Sundays is our day for the big grease & fat injection of Bacon,Eggs,Grilled Tomatoes,Sausage & Toast. We eat very healthy through out the week, so this is our day to indulge. All washed down with tea & coffee. There is only one slight catch to it, i get to cook it as it is also my wifes day of rest & sleep in. So my little boy Soren & I usually pull half the house apart before 8:00am. We have an obsolute ball getting just about every toy he owns & having them from one end of the house to the other. The wife says i revert back 30 years when we are playing together on Sundays. But i honestly say i would not swap anything in the world for spending time with my family.

Up at 4am at the block by 5.30 after hunting partner late.Found everything but the deer and found a camping spot for next w/end.If I had what you do Adam for b/fast i would be big as a house.I will call it a scouting trip which is another way to say we did no good. 8)

My sunday mornings were very similar aswell, until high school hit. When i was alot younger, i use to wake up bright and early and go sit in the old cubby house with my trusty air rifle whacking all them pesty minors that came within range, followed by a nice breakfast meal with the family. The rest of the day was spent together. Now im waking up early straight to the computer studying for exams coming up. Every now and then though we sit as a family and have a few of mums homemade butter scotch pancakes, yummmmm. Wazza can vouch for em  ay mate.
Hey adam, your sunday sounds awsome. Today isnt a very good sunday for me as i am finishing off a 1,500 word essay :( . Next sunday will be better than today though, cause i will be back home with jim (aka trophyhunter) hunting next door to my old man's place, in old man Sears's block and all along the little river, hopefully we should be able to harvest a few nice billies and whatever else crosses our path.
Cheers, Rob
Good luck out there Rob, I love Sear's block has held some good hunting for me in the past.

Wife and I usually do the relax day on Sunday. We try to get everything done weeknights and Saturdays. We spend Sundays fishing, shopping or visiting friends after we go somewhere and have brekkie cooked for us. Anything except work. :D
Bill
Thanks for the extra bit of luck adam, i will probably need it.
Since old pete passed on, there has been restricted access to the block, so jim, me and a couple our good mates are the only hunters who hunt there. This has resulted in an increase in the quality of the billies and a large increase in the goat population. Used to see 100+ a day before i came to uni with billies up to about 110-115 DP.
Rob
Adam, Bill sounds like you two both have it sussed.
in our place I dont' think no two Sundays are the same.
We go to church in the morning then have lunch either out some where or at a friends place then every afternoon we try to do something differant.
Like today I'v spent the afternoon painting and getting the house ready to sell and then went to look at a couple of houses and stopped at the park on the way home with Bella to feed the ducks.
No matter what we do on Sundays we always do it as a family.........bar when I go hunting
Anything except work
True that Bill
Rob, its good to know searys is being manage well. Last time I was there Mathew arrowed a big billy, we caught 12 murray cod, and I seen a few Pigs on the river. Not bad for a days fishing.
Its good to here the place holds some good hunting for you blokes, Look forward to seeing some pictures(successful or not) and all the best on the studying mate.
Adam
You would be lucky to catch that many cod now adam, cause nearly all the holes in the river dried up and about a half to three quarters of the cod populatiion died  . The holes are full again now but it will take years for the cod population to get back to what it was :( . It was the worst sight i've ever saw, seing all those cod belly-up.
Rob
That is a real shame mate, goes to show the times are changing hey.
up at 4.30am quick drive for a rusa hunt. back home at 9.30 for the cook to make me and my boys pancakes and jam and bannas..hmmmm
Yeah i reckon the times are changing adam, that was the worst mum n dad have ever seen the river in 30 or so years. The only good thing that came out of the dry up was that we were able to get rid of hundreds of stinkin carp.

TH
Thanks Trophyhunter.
Now I'm moving back to the east coast Ill be sure to come at some stage.

thanks mate, if theres ever a bit of spare time haging around that would be great.
Thanks TH :D
Up pretty early for me on sundays.
Either take a service here and then one 27km's away, or here and then 117 km's away, 12 minute sermon usually, about 1200 words each week to write and memorise. Hour-long services.
Dress up in my dog collar and gown for the service, whether it is 40 degrees out there or 4 degrees, then have lunch with my church members somewhere and come home. Average of 5 hours work on a Sunday morning.
But then again, my day off is a monday, and yep, more often than not, I hunt. :D
Puk
Wake up at about 8ish with a bit of a hang over from my brothers wedding and drive 8 1/2 hours back home (drooling at all the forests full of deer all the way). Get home and start working on Uni assignments and get to bed luckily before midnight (normal Sunday just delete the drive bit).
Another few years and I hope to be hunting, relaxing and enjoying time with the wife like the rest of you (and hopefully saying it was worth it)

TH- Yeah i cant wait to get back jimmy, only 2 days till i'm back home :D :D :D , and then the day after that we should go for an all day scouting trip to see where da billies are and what they are doin, and take the bows , just incase we get some good opertunities to put on a stalk.
Adam- it would be an honor to take you huntin along with TH on the block and it would be sic to go to some of your huntin spots. Also it would be good to see you in person. think i've met you before when you got the suzuki jeep thingy boged on searsy's block.
Cheers, Bob
And didn't we get it bogged good, he he.
Sounds good mate.
