Hi... i know this is a bowhunting sight and all, but im also sort of interested in rifles and after watching countless hunting dvds with rifles it just seemed a bit to easy (no offense to rifle hunters) and then on a myth busters episode they used a old muzzle loader..... ive seen them before and have always loved them but it got me thinking....

does anyone used, have or had a muzzle loader hunting....?
what distance are you suposta shoot from (how far acurate is it?)
and does the same firearm lisence apply ?

any help would be great

im pretty sure the same firearms liscence is used to own one, but when i went on a hunting trip with SSAA to Tilterweira Sation (me and Hoyt_Trykon took our bows...:lol), we stopped off at the mudgee range and used some black powder guns.... one of the better shooters of the group were shooting a target 250m away of a bench, so i suppose they have a similiar range to rifles... absolute experience to use one though... the feeling is nothing like a normal rifle... trigger weighs a ton, and the recoil is not so much of a kick as it is a push, so you dont fell it as much

None taken sir.
Your right hunting can be alot easier with a rifle. But then remember, just because you have a rifle doesnt mean you cannot stalk to within bow range before shooting. You can make rifle hunting almost as challanging as bowhunting. :D
Ive also hunted with many different muzzloaders, flintlock, sidelock and inline. Muzzleoader accurecy depends on practice just like accuracy with a bow. They make muzzloaders more and more accurate every year. I used to know hunters that killed deer with thier muzzloader at 200 yards consistently.
