Friday or Saturday sounds good too me as well.
I will be back to work on the 15th of May and away on the Labour day long weekend for 3 days.
Also Puk, can pick you up on the way if wanted, as you are only down the hill
Grunter
Friday or Saturday suits me Luke.
Look forward to it.
Thanks
Gavin.
How's next friday night, the 11th sound?
I know it's short notice (sort of) but Grunter can make it before he goes off O.S. for work again.
Who's keen?
8)
Friday the 11th is good for me :)

I'll show my ugly mug  8)
It's a stretch but i can probably walk that distance
Sounds like it's gonna be a hoot boys.
Some real long term members turning up will be awesome and some newbies along as well.
All are welcome to crash the night (of course) - we have a few spare beds and rooms and loads of space for swags.
Some boys coming down from Toowoomba way carpooling it, so if anyone's keen for a lift, sing out and we can see what we can arrange.
Maybe a few from Brissie as well.

If any of you boys coming have a portable bow press it'd be much appreciated if you could bring it along :D
PM me too, anyone, if you need directions or my address ;)

Shssss dont tell everyone, after all I do have Scottish blood in me.
It's alright Hood, I'm the tight ass.  It's just a one off for a basic setup on the bow I just bought from Sparra so I asked Luke if he could help me out and he suggested we ask if someone had a portable one we couold borrow at the vids night.
Jono.
I don't know about being a tight ass HOOD, but he IS a manual arts teacher. You would think he should be able to build himself one.
but with a newborn at home, i don't think time is at a surplus right now.......
when it is, this tight-ass is going to get him to make two!
Puk
LOL smooth Joel, real smooth!
Yeah, with a newborn at home; time, money, sleep and sanity are all pretty low right now
Jono.
And the perfect cure... a night dribbling bowhunting BS and watching vids on the big screen...ooo yeah ;)

I'll bring my portable BP around - just remind me closer to the time
So, what interests ya's for grub?
Do we all bung in for Pizza's or would you like to chuck in for a BBQ cook up?
Let me know so we can organise it :D
8)
A BBQ might come out healthier.
Pizza would be quicker and leave more time for beer and vids.
Puk
How about BBQ pizzas?
(meat lovers of course)

I am easly pleased. Next vids night when we have more time up our sleaves i will bring some venison down for us to have a chew on. Will talk about that one on Friday. As for this one what ever the majority want.
Also have a copy of Southy's "Hunting with the boys" coming down as well.
I'm happy with either but at this stage a BYO bbq would be easier for me coz I can just pull a steak and some snags out of the freezer.
Jono.

Yeah same here :)

Well, we can do both I guess :D
If a few boys rock up with no grub, then we can order some pizzas while the BBQ's cooking ;)
Too easy ;)

I'll bring some gear around if anyone is interested
I've a back strap off a red that I've cleaned up and cut into about inch wide steaks that I'll bring down to through on the BBQ
Grunter
10-05-07, 01:09 PM
I will also bring down some Fallow Backstraps as well to chuck in with Spider's for the BBQ.
So you're sayin you'll have lots of friends and no venison left
j/k
That sounds awesome mate!
Anyone got a good marinade recipe for the backstrap to BBQ. I'll break it out off the freezer and prep it tonight. What times this kick off anyway?
Grunter
10-05-07, 01:25 PM
Spider what i generally do for the Backstraps is as follows.
1 tablespoon light soy sauce
1 teaspoon fresh garlic crushed
1 whole sprig rosemary
small bunch parsley
1 teaspoon holebrooks sauce
1 dessert spoon of tomatoe paste
1/2 dozen dessert spoons Masterfoods smokey BBQ marinade
Combine all together in bowl & marinade for around 1 to 2 hrs in fridge, drain off excess marinade. Remove from fridge & roll in some good bread crumbs. Place into frezzer fro 1/2 hr to firm up. Once firmed up slice into 1/2" thick slabs & put straight onto BBQ for around 2 mins a side then flip. In this process do not flip meat more than once. Serve & enjoy

My Wife has got the goodies together for a Salad just in case meat won't be the sole dietry source on the given evening.

You hippy vego Friar!
Stop smoking rainforests and tying yourself to marijuana and have a bath, you flower child!
Salad indeed! Huh!
No seriously, good idea.
I'll be coming from the gym with Grunter, so i won't have time to pick anything up Luke. I can throw someone some $$$ to make up for it if they get some for me.

How far north do i have to go to get away from Victoria and their ubiquitous poison.
Mind you, in SA they drink West End. Tastes like what comes out of the west end of a cat that is going east! (not that i have ever tried that)
Puk
 Just when you thought it was safe to have a BBQ I have been able to organise the time off so will be there.Coming down with Grunter so will be able to get a head start. 8) Defrosting some Reds steaks as I type but cant seem to find the salad though.
Cheers KIM
What times this kick off anyway?
Good call, what time should we rock up Luke?
Jono.
Alright so here's the plan :D
We can kick off whenever you get here. But we'll fire up the BBQ at the ETA of the Toowoomba (way) boys about 7pm.
We'll dine on venison delights, and "some" vegetable/salads. (Thanks for the most generous offers of bringing some deer down boys :D :D :D). It won't go unappreciated.
Drinks will be BYO to your own taste ;)
For those staying here the night, b'fast will be mountains of bacon and eggs (my secret recipe bacon ;) )... if you don't like B n E... we have some cereal (boring!!!) for you :)
Any nibbles that you might be able to bring would be most appreciated.
Of course, sprinkled throughout our food delights will be Bowhunting BS, tall tails and long yarns  OH, and a few DVD's or vids as well (that reminds me, must go buy new DVD player... mine died yesterday - would you believe it!!! ).
If anyone has any other Friday frolics we can take part in post your ideas :D
If not, see ya when you get here.
Luke 8)
BTW, if you need my address, don't forget to PM me.

I'm sure Joel can put on boxer short fashion parade for you all.

Washed & ready to wear. I have got a few movies coming as well Luke, some from the boys at work. The backstraps are ready to go, esky ready, swag & me ready for a good night. I will also bring down some nibblies. Have got some jerky to come as well.
The boy's on the hill plan as follows. Pick up Rumbo's into esky full of ice. Then pick up Kimall from his house at 16:30 hrs, down the hill & pick up Puk from Gatton at 17:00 hrs. B-line for your place, hope Puk can remember the way :!: Should roll up touch before 19:00 hrs with luck of traffic.
Directions are written into my diary.
I will drink rum while you drive, and if i haven't had too much by the time we get down there i should be able to remember the way!
Puk.
P.S. Boxer shorts packed and ready HOOD.

One of my Grade 12 Tech students was born in Zimbabwe and brought me some home-made biltong to sample the other day. When he saw how much I liked it, he brought me some more this morning. I've got one length left (we shared the other two around the whole class  ) that I'll bring along tonight. It's not very long but it should be enough for everyone to have a taste.
Jono.
Who's what!!
Poor Bil
Looking forward to that Hefty :D

Went to vids night & had good time as i am sure all did. Drank a few cans & had a chew on some Red & Fallow which i am sure everyone enjoyed as well. It was good to meet a few new/old people face to face & have a chin wag with them. Checked out some of Antony's gear in his trailer that he brought along for the night (bad mistake as i now have an eye on new sight  ) Watched some vids but spent most of the time talking of tails past & future ones we were looking at going on. Had a pleasant drive back up the hill & tried to catch a few zzzzzzzzz's that is real hard with a 15 month old boy running around the house wanting to have a play. All in all had a good night & thanks to Luke & Amy for putting it on at there house & accomadating a few Bowhunters for the night.
I had a really great time last night, it was good to put faces to names :)
Thanks again luke and the rest of you fellas for making me feel welcome, hope we can do it again soon
Cheers
Thanks Luke for putting on a top night mate and thanks Amy for letting us use your house. Really enjoyed the company and conversation with all who came along, had a few laughs and was good to put a face to names.
No worries fellas, it was our pleasure :D
I'm sure a great night was had by all.
I think we rounded off at about 4am in the end
Then more bowhunting talk this morning with Kim, Grunter and Puk staying the night. Mountains of bacon for breaky settled on top of the piles of venison the night before ;)
Was great to catch up with you all fellas and to meet the boys I had not previously.
We will have to do it again soon :D
Here's a pic of the mob.

From left to right.
Back row:
Paul, Darren (non forum member), Timmsy, Hefty and Spider.
Front row:
Luke, Grunter, Friar Tuck, Puk and Kimall.
Uglier than a hat full of !@##$#@$ ;) At least there were a few nice racks in the pic
Thanks to all who came and I hope you all got home safe.
8)
Scary looking mob
Grunter you couldn't even leave the bundy alone for 2 seconds while you had a pic taken. Then again I wouldn't trust the other guys either, they may have spiked ya drink or even worse DRANK it on ya
I'll have to have another vids night here for the SA boys again as soon as Shalee gets back from OS or where ever he's gotten to with work.
Yep it was a great night.
I think we only watched one hunting vid for the night, we were too busy drooling over the gear in the Friar's trailer (archery shop on wheels) and telling stories about scary doorknocking experiences, deer that hunch up a certain way so you know you've heart-shot them, american hunting exploits, all manner of gossip and the merits of pups on big game. :D
After the rums i don't remember a word of it. No. seriously, it was a great night, and some contacts were made for the future.
Let's do it again up this way one day fellas.
Puk
It's always great to get together with like minded bowhunters, it was very good to met everyone, we'll have to do it again soon.
My thanks also go to Luke and Amy for their hospitality. :D
Yep, great night, good food (I'm gonna have to shoot some deer now. I'm hooked on venison!!) and great blokes to enjoy it with.
Can't wait for the next one!

A great night and good to meet some of the gang again and some new faces.
Had to pull Grunter out of the trailer a couple of times and there was talk of some bows ending up in the ceiling space but I think my Wife has accounted for all of them
Thank you to all for a great evening and thanks for the hospitality again Luke & Amy 8)

Pretty sure you would have to go with 3 & 1' d-Loop for that span.
